A few weeks back there was a comment made here (sorry, can't find it) where the poster said he'd discussed the carbon rebate with a couple of guys who were adamantly against it and swore they never received the rebate.

Turned out one guy owed back taxes (so the rebate was withheld to pay it) and the other guy's wife received theirs.

And that's on the the lack of messaging to clarify the tax/rebate info for people.

Wait until the Cons win the next election and the rebate stops ... right wing voters will be pissed then.

I abhor with every fibre of my being having to vote strategically. The last 2 federal elections I haven't had to ... it was NDP across the board. This time I'll have to go back to it and it pisses me off.

According to the American Cancer Society's 2024 stats cancer deaths are declining in some areas (ie: lung cancer) but increasing in many others.

In 2024, 2,001,140 new cancer cases and 611,720 cancer deaths are projected to occur in the United States.

• Cancer mortality continued to decline through 2021, averting over 4 million deaths since 1991 because of reductions in smoking, earlier detection for some cancers, and improved treatment options in both the adjuvant and metastatic settings.

However, these gains are threatened by increasing incidence for 6 of the top 10 cancers.

• Incidence rates increased during 2015–2019 by 0.6%–1% annually for breast, pancreas, and uterine corpus cancers and by 2%–3% annually for prostate, liver (female), kidney, and human papillomavirus-associated oral cancers and for melanoma.

It seems the City Creek Stream naturally ran from the canyon into parts of Salt Lake City.

City Creek Canyon, located northeast of Salt Lake City, collects water from 19.2 square miles of watershed that feeds the 14.5 mile-long City Creek stream. Since the arrival of the Mormon pioneers in 1847 this water supply has been used by first the settlers, and later the inhabitants of the City. It played a significant role in the valley's early history, as the settlement was based on agriculture through artificial irrigation of the desert soil. City Creek was designated as the pioneer's first source of water providing both irrigation and domestic supplies.
