Do you find it easier to communicate with autistic/neurodivergent people, or neurotypicals?
  • As a support provider (think well-trained best friend), I have been working with people with typical and divergent styles for a long time, and have developed friendships at many different levels and in many different ways with the people I work with. We have the luxury of spending significant amounts of time together over several years. I get the chance to really KNOW the people I work with. If there is one thing I wish everyone, typical or not, understood, is that EVERYONE has social anxiety of some sort, to some degree. They have different ways to navigate that anxiety, with different results. I find that the key to being with other people is to be able to recognize their anxiety adaptive strategies, and to be able to tell, in the moment, how they are feeling, as evidence by their non verbals. For what it's worth, I hope anyone here can take some of what I have said and put it to use to develop success in their own social endeavors, or simply navigating everyday life. It is a life-time work to learn, and there is always something more to add to the body of one's personal knowledge and understanding, but the key point of understanding that anxiety is an overriding and underlying process that is ALWAYS present in social interactions can be a helpful starting point. This is a subject that is dear to me, so if anyone has any interest in talking more about this, please respond! 🙂

  • Florida leaders silent after senator confronts staffer at women’s shelter
  • I live across the country from Florida senator Anger-issues. Having a conversation in the phone with someone who even works in his office is way better than doing nothing. I am saying that it might be good to connect on a human level to express concern. You do you, though. Tell me how it goes visiting his office?

  • Be interesting if, instead of commenting here, it was more common to just look up the phone number of a public servant, call their office, and express ones concern for the mental health of the senator. One may end up speaking with a member of the senators staff, but it sure seems more meaningful than commenting here, especially if one is able to remain civil while doing so. Might mean something to a person who actually works with the senator if people were to demonstrate proper human behavior in contrast to horrible actions.

  • I'm sorry, but are you saying rape, murder of a spouse, child abuse, etc. are somehow due to the existence of policing? Is there any way you can possibly make me believe that? Please try, if you can, 'cause otherwise I'm just gonna think that I read some MORE total nonsense on the intent today

  • It's almost as if that cop has lost some of his humanity. Auderer, I mean. While this may be something that people can write off as "part of the job" it is unacceptable. Auderer needs to be put on indefinite mental health leave, and the rest of us need to have a long conversation about how we got here and what we're going to do about it

  • About electric vehicle. If you add the maintenance cost for battery, how does it fair compare to gasoline vehicle? On cost we have to pay.
  • I pay for that infrastructure when I register my car. As in, I pay easy more than an ICE car does. Way more. There is no freeloading going on. It is just a propaganda point used by oil interests to discourage people from adopting evs. The freeloaders you are looking for are the corporate interests who are using my lungs to clear the poisons they are spilling into the air with their diesel engines. Those are the freeloaders you are looking for. Protip: you can spot the freeloaders in a crowd real easy. They are the ones pointing their fingers and yelling "freeloaders". Projection is a powerful tool
