  • There's also a lot of difference in mocap vs traditional animation. When characters are animated they follow certain principles that aren't realistic but result in pleasant and entertaining movement. Real humans and creatures don't behave this way.

So when animators are working on live action films they have to carefully balance the adherence to these principles with the realism of the scene.

There's obviously liberties taken (the mocap data is always cleaned up before being applied to a character) but think of the difference between an explosion in a Michael Bay film vs one caught on someone's camera in real life.

  • Why?

  • I saw a great one the other week but they spelled restaurant wrong and then correctly in the next panel.

Like is there some online resource these people are using that doesn't have spellcheck built-in or are they just way too enthusiastic to post that they don't even look twice?

  • The joke would have worked better with Black Window instead of WW. Disney held off on any black or woman-led films for years (BW debuted in the third MCU film) because one executive (who's name I don't recall) refused to green light any project without a white male lead. It took over a decade for a BW movie and nearly as long for Black Panther.

  • One thing that always jumps out to me with each of these is that these videos are all just a sequence of 3 second clips stitched together.

I know all film consists of discrete shots edited into a larger piece but there's something mechanical about these. Like I'm watching a slide show that's just been placed in chronological order.

  • This person was referencing the obtuse and infuriatingly repeated quote from Margaret Thatcher (rot in piss) "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money".

I don't think I need to point out exactly why this quote is stupid.

  • Have you considered simply not voting and then just acting like a smug douche who's above politics when the fascists inevitably take over and march us all to the concentration camps?

  • Originally I think it was closer to 20 years. Frankly I think 25 years is plenty. A quarter century is enough time to reward the creator of an IP and it respects the fact that all IP is built on top of the public domain so it's return is a natural part of the cycle.

  • It's not so much that the word itself is offensive it's just that using it as a noun instead of an adjective to refer to a person carries with it connotations and implies you're referring to a person as if they're a subject or an animal or something below human.

  • I wish Boltgun had held my attention like I wanted it to. I really loved it and want more but the loop didn't remain as fresh as I'd wished. Maybe this DLC can do that and if I'm lucky they might expand the Boltgun series beyond Ultramarines who frankly get a way oversized slice of the IP attention.

  • Look, I wouldn't mind a remake in whatever gamebryo engine they're using today but my confidence in their ability to accurately portray the originals without missing out on the intricacies of them isn't particularly high.

To name two off the top of my inebriated head; becoming a pornstar and murdering children are two things I can't see Bethesda including in a remake of Fallout 2.

  • Not defending the policy (it's indefensible) but as per that article there was a single case 20 years ago of a rejection because of Autism which was overturned. So I don't think it's fair to say Australia doesn't allow people with Autism diagnoses to immigrate.
