  • I don't really see it as a surveillance over-reach.

Just because you don't see it happening now, it doesn't mean it could not be used against people to persecute them, especially in fascist countries, where this would be a perfect tool for tracking people and mass surveillance.

  • allowing them to offer AI bots to companies and governments to replace human workers

If that's what he expects will happen then he is out of touch with AI and its capabilities. AI nowhere near being capable of completely replacing humans.

In fact the main reason for the AI bubble is because billions have been dumped into it expecting it will be capable of replacing humans, but all it's really good at is making AI slop.

The only jobs it has kind of started replacing, but not really - more like transforming them - are software engineer jobs.

When the economy collapses, it will affect ALL businesses, and all kind of people will lose jobs, from software engineers to teachers to analysts. And none of those jobs can be fully replaced by AI, or it would have happened already.

    Bezos is a fucking clown.

  • Something that can handle heavy loads, e.g. thousands or millions of people accessing and using the app at the same time. Handling gigabytes or even terabytes of data without crashing.

Something that can easily scale to meet new demands.

Something that is secure, and won't be hacked immediately.

Something that is thoroughly tested, polished and has no showstopper or major bugs, ideally no known bugs at all.

But it all really depends on the app you're building. Offline apps are different to web apps and have different non-functional requirements. But generally, yes, it has to be good enough to be deployed and used by the military, if you prefer the term "military grade".

  • "We have been clear that exiting the UK does not allow an organisation to avoid responsibility for any prior infringement of data protection law".

They are not going to avoid paying the fines for previous infringements anyway, so it's not really a financial decision, unless they're just being stupid.

I find it strange that Imgur did not provide any reason for the withdrawal themselves, which is probably because they are trying to hide something, which can't be good.

  • "The ICO launched its investigation into Imgur in March - saying it would probe whether the companies were complying with both the UK's data protection laws, and the children's code.".

    Just do some research dude

  • "The ICO launched its investigation into Imgur in March - saying it would probe whether the companies were complying with both the UK's data protection laws, and the children's code."

They are trying to avoid paying fines for earlier infringements, unrelated to the recent age checks.

  • Uhm 👀

Where did I make it generational? Exactly?

Again, it's an age thing, not a generational thing.

Let me explain it for you better.

When the gen z grows up they will still be generation z, but they will be older and smarter. Gen z is not going to stay under 16 forever.

When generation z grows up, there will be a next generation abc or whatever, that will be the new under 16s.

And so it has absolutely nothing to do with being generation x, y or z.

    Does that make more sense?

If not go back to school.

Also, thanks for proving my point that most kids are stupid and have nothing to contribute to serious conversations.
