Hadn't played for a while and am pretty pleased with myself. No hints, and googled one term to make sure I remembered its meaning, but usually I end up needing more :)
The legislation “places them in the position of either complying with the requirements of their faith or violating the law. The consequences for violating the law are serious and, as Plaintiffs assert, the implications of violating the Sacramental Seal are more serious still,” he wrote.
Attorney General Nick Brown’s office emphasized that the ruling only applies to “the Sacrament of Confession” and that, if clergy learn about abuse in any other setting, the injunction does not change that they will be mandated reporters. Brown did not provide any further comment.
Batshit insane first paragraph. The second is at least some small positive. I don't know that this being overturned actually makes any meaningful difference in practice though though- if people can't say they abused a child in confessional they won't. I guess you might catch some people in the transmission, who didn't learn about the change? That would be a positive. But I think long term people just wouldn't confess to sexual abuses in the confessional anymore
To be perfectly honest, I feel kinda queasy when people see the misdeeds of an individual as substantiation of a prejudice against an entire minority demographic...
That makes perfect sense! Last time I used Friendica it was a bit rough around the edges, I will have to revisit it some time soon :) Asking representatives is a neat idea, there are a couple folks I'd love to be able to follow on Mastodon!
Just be careful not to push things so hard you alienate people!
I find its most productive to share my joy or passion for things (like the Fediverse), and look for ways to relate those things to their interests and values, and if they get interested that's awesome!
Don't treat it as a failure if they don't they don't immediately switch. Don't pressure them. Don't try to make them switch while pretending you're just excited about it (people can tell when the subtext is that you want them to do something)
Share your joy, and if it seems like they have any interest or can connect with the appeal of it, ask them if you can set up an account with/for them! Not to try and make them drop Facebook, but to share why you care about this thing and participate in it together :)
That being said, it will of course depend a lot on the nature of your relationship with people. Your relationship with your mom might be such that she'd happily switch if she mostly just uses facebook to keep up with you and would be receptive to doing that a different way. And it's not necessarily bad to talk about why meta/facebook sucks, just be mindful of conveying preachyness, or making people feel overly presured to do what you'd like
Sick, I've been checking in on this project periodically
Right now I'm using GNOME and antimicroX for mouse control via a gamepad quite happily, but the option of a dedicated interface for a controller would be rad!!
My understanding has always been that doctors shouldn't share peoples private health information with law enforcement either...
Like if the cops suspect you of a crime or planning a crime, they can't just go to your therapist and ask them what you talk about in your sessions...
I have no expertise but that has always been something I thought was protected. Maybe it's changed if it's demographic and personal experience rather than medical...? I have no idea
