• “just one more prompt bro” – psychological addition to a program designed to be obsequious, programmed to apologize profusely and lay on the praise thickly, one more pull on the slot machine coding prompt
• “prompts are cheaper than therapy” – when your country blames mental health on moral failings instead of societal failings
• “bullshit generators for bullshit jobs” – the job is meaningless, you know it’s meaningless, but you’re required to pretend it’s important – your boss is running his bullet points through a bullshit generator to email you an essay that you run through a bullshit generator to summarize as bullet points

• Oregon Trail didn’t ask you for your cookie preferences
• VisiCalc didn’t require an always on internet connection
• WordStar didn’t auto-update and restart in the middle of an essay
• Applesoft BASIC didn’t require a fully provisioned S3 instance

I think the only real advantage for the Pixel (and Nexus) series was they came with stock Android – no worrying about manufacturer overlays and carrier overlays adding their own levels of bloatware and delaying updates

Alpine Linux + LabWC – as I update my hardware, I seem to end up paring down my software – the more powerful the computer is, the less use I make of its capabilities 🤷 – I’ve worked with Macs and Windows, and settled on Linux more for its simplicity than anything – I don’t have any problem with MacOS or Windows themselves so much as the companies behind them

Alpine is a nice, clean, lightweight distro that works surprisingly well on a desktop despite the whingers complaining it’s for containers only … Pop!_OS ⇒ Debian Stable ⇒ Alpine (with Gentoo back in the dawn of history)

LabWC is the spiritual successor to Openbox, a nice simple stacking window manager that I’ve added a handful of tiling keybinds – I’ve added utility programs as I’ve wanted them rather than going for the cohesiveness of a proper desktop environment … Gnome ⇒ Xfce ⇒ LabWC (and with Openbox way back when)
