  • we would do a lot better telling people who in their local states and cities need more support.

I stand by this, you can harp and debate and pontificate about what has been done and why and who it effects and how, but at the end of the day if you're not building your smaller politics, your larger politics will do things you don't want.

Liberal voters are uninspired and bored and make shitty choices so people who DO care have to get more involved. Give them leadership, give them options, shoot enough talking points at the great propaganda barrier that some get through and strike a few comfortable liberals and median voters who get all their news from AM radio and podcasters.

Take the money out of the hands of the Democrats and this won't be an issue in the future, this arm-folded harumphing of the Dem party forcing people into choices they don't like isn't going to change anything by itself either, this isn't reaching the median voters or liberals either and can be easily weaponized to make out those dissatisfied as "unamerican" or "radicals." We have to stop spending money on corporations (saving money, stop spending on frivolous bullshit and entertainment) and start investing actual energy and time into rebuilding communities and socializing. We desperately have to stop doing the same thing expecting different results. There's a word for that.

  • The actual reason for most was from people embarrassed to wear facemasks at the grocery store. Otherwise, most people didn't go out and socialize very often anyway, most people LOVED having an excuse to cancel the big, annoying jumping-castle birthday party.

The right capitalized on this petty whinging and made people feel validated for hating to change their habits in the most minor way and played it up to catastrophic levels to secure a rightward swing in the US.

And it worked fantastically well. This is the generation of apathy and laziness and self-entitlement and the left is equally guilty of succumbing to this long before the pandemic even.

Everyone is stuck up in their own asses because we have a million different comforts that we cling to and will scream and bargain to not have to make changes.

  • organizing a nationwide vote of no confidence

Let me know how that goes.

I've been at this for decades. Leftists broadly are incapable of organizing on the level that draws in the numbers needed for change, it's just performative clubhouse demonstrations and performative boycotts, everyone is too lost in their own heads. It's sad and it sucks but it's literally the same kind of self-entitlement that the right is suffering from but wrapped in different wallpaper.

The liberal middle-ish class is the blood-bank for the parties to try to continue to extract money from, and as long as this class is moderately comfortable and has food they are going to pour money into whoever catches their eye for a moment on federal electoral stages, largely tune out of local politics, and not have strong principles one way or another. If you can reach these people (without preaching or shaming them for like, enjoying Duck Tales and other bizarre leftist campaigns of shame and finger wagging) then you have a chance of turning the country, but I literally cannot see that happening with the general attitudes that have set in on the left. Nobody is taking any of this seriously. It's horseshoe theory on despair-inducing display.

  • They're also trying to speedrun so they get their own nation borders and laws that allow them to do literally whatever they want so they can really get that line to go up. They will not be happy until they become Dutch East India 2.0 with free reign to launch dropships full of murder drones on any resource they want.

  • We are voting blue because the alternative is literal fascism as we're experiencing here, we don't have the political system set up for third-party voting, that begins at fucking HOME.

Get involved in your local governments and stop whinging about the federal elections. Your largely-ignored local and state elections are what gave all this mess the power it didn't deserve.

I mean, there's still a CHANCE to turn it around and restructure our government and our voting so we have actual choices, but right now, because everyone has been swayed or turned apathetic, we don't have a viable means for voting for anyone that isn't picked by the right or the further right.

Instead of shaming people for voting for Harris, we would do a lot better telling people who in their local states and cities need more support.

The left needs to get it's fart-huffing head out of its collective ass and stop trying to bicker and shame each other performatively. You want real results you get involved from the ground up. Otherwise you're just displaying how much better you are for internet points.

edit: the fact that this is still getting kids butthurt out there encourages me, I WANT you to be mad. Get fucking MAD you hyper-sensitive dipshits. Then point it where it belongs and go outside and touch grass and get involved in your community, learn to socialize without being self-obsessed, stop feeling entitled to some kind of relief or absolution or validation, you're exactly the same as MAGA if you're sitting there mad that someone has criticism of your movement's tactics or lack thereof. UNIFY.

  • It shouldn't at all be a surprise, since Covid, reports of "air rage incidents" spiked about 1000% and then remained elevated ever since.

People are no longer able to be in enclosed spaces with each other because everyone is paranoid of everyone else, mental problems don't get treatment, they get communities of supporters, and every American has a custom algorithm that feeds them specific, atomizing perspectives of a world we once all shared. Even basic decency is out the window because we are abandoning any sense of community with our fellow citizens.

  • It will take a lot longer than our generation.

This will indeed result in the dissolution of the United States, but before it becomes armed conflict, a lot of things have to happen.

Once every state has "restructured" their representational maps to whatever the fuck they want and it becomes an ongoing stalemate, eventually many states or coalitions of states who bring in more money than they receive from the federal government are going to start withholding their tax money and making their own decisions how to spend their funding. This will start slow so it doesn't immediately get squashed by the army or national guard, it will be a bill here or there, some will get stopped by courts, some won't.

Eventually, enough of a region's money will stay within-region that the whole idea of belonging to a union will seem arbitrary and pointless. People will still elect clowns to speak and vote on bills and such, but it will slowly become both more performative and more contentious.

When the country starts to resemble power-blocs with bold lines between alliances of states representing different ideals or values, that's when a soft form of segregation begins. The Southern Alliance will have beef with the Cascadian Union, the Northern Heartland will have corn disputes with the nation-state of Neo York. The Eastern Pedophile Coalition will get in fights with the small province of RaytheonDisneyTimeWarnerJohnsonAndJohnson, and as these tensions heat up over years, it will become cultural divides, languages will start to drift, accents will become stronger.

Once we have the clear dividing lines between groups of people, THAT is when all-out war is far more likely than ever. It may take a long time to come to that, but there may also be a lot of "spats" leading up to it. For the immediate future it's more likely to be civil unrest, riots, national guard crackdowns and protests and counter protests until the violence just starts to feel normal.

  • I know its retaliatory and probably necessary for blue states, but in the long run it will get worse for votes to count.

You have determined why this is such a big deal that our grandkids or grandroids will look back at this moment as pivotal in American history, and the beginning of the end. It's fucking sad and nobody really gets it.

This is the beginning of a power struggle between states that will eventually, effectively dissolve the union. Democracy on the national stage dies when the states just start inventing their own power structures in order to stay on the stage at all. After a point, federal government in states will become more of a liability than a benefit, particularly for states or coalitions of states who make more money than they receive from the federal government, and they will start making their own decisions how to use their tax money. And we should all have a pretty good idea where it goes from there.

And it's not even the wrong choice either, it HAS to be done, it's just the outcome of what happens when you have a democracy-destroying dictator take over a nation. We didn't think it could happen, and broadly, the country still doesn't think it could happen... even as it's happening.

  • Truth

    Jump
  • True and this needs to be broken down so people understand broadly what's going on.

They do not care that we don't share their level of idolatry. They don't care enough about principles and values. Have we EVER scored points for pointing out hypocrisy? Have we EVER scored a victory for being smarter and more consistent? Every time we score a victory against fascism and cults it's because they harm themselves in some way and go too far with some trend or meme or gag until it gets them in trouble with liberals who don't want the boat rocked.

They don't rethink their entire framework for viewing the world when you shoot back at them that you don't care if "your guy" is also on the epstein list. It doesn't even register with them, it's like if you scored a goal against the opposing team and the coach came up to you and said something non-sequitur like "Chest of kumquats, handover lugnut toe socks."

In fact, you want to really fuck with them? Act HORRIFIED that Clinton might also get indicted. Play their stupid WWE game, but then, challenge them, dare them to get the list revealed under the guise of proving them wrong and that your precious Bill Clinton would NEVER lower himself to associating with such degeneracy. Hold back the laughter, I promise it will have a much more profound effect than acting "better" than them.

We have to start changing the game people.

  • I mean, they are in the moment that they're mad that someone made a black female with realistic proportions as a selectable character... but they largely don't have principles or values at all, they're a slime-mold that fits into whatever social trend is easy to latch onto right now so they can share emotional connection with their peers.

What happened is we ignored them and people like Steve Bannon and Russians and other agents of regression saw them as a ripe target for exploitation and manipulation. We have a massive rise in things like incels and anti-woke young men, but it's largely manufactured. These are mostly young people who are unhappy, alone and they've been nudged towards easy-to-digest memes and talking points that this is the fault of unattractive feminists who want to take their games away.

This isn't "conservatism" as much as reactionary attitudes and social isolation. If we were able to get a foot in the door faster and have a concerted effort to show them that their issues are largely socio-economic and mental-health related, we would have made a lot more progress a lot sooner. Source: I used to do just that and mentored/coached lonely young guys for years, they're staggeringly easy to turn if you make the effort and are social and can listen to people.

  • Back in my day, we elected scumbags who at least wanted to preserve stability and international trade relations so that at least a balance could be preserved long enough to nudge policy where people broadly wanted it.

  • No no, I'm sure it's the fault of the trans kids. And the immigrants. I'm sure prices will go down if the US just cracks down harder on these threats to gaming.

edit: do some of you dipshits have literal brain damage? If I have to add /s tags to something like this, it's proving that we have NO hope for the future ffs, take your medication and talk to someone.
