  • You may have missed a few details then (ie; the mad scramble by Facebook to restore emergency and community services pages) and Australia passing legislation (albeit amended) to make social media Giants pay for content. Google also threatened to disable Google searching, but once again, didn't withdraw any of its services. And really, why would they? They make mountains of money in western countries.

  • No. No they didn't. Facebook tried to extort the Australian government by removing all news content but phuked up and removed emergency warning and community notice boards. Then it was Facebook furiously backtracking and attempting to undo the shitstorm of PR damage they themselves had created.

  • Tes, 'cause it sounds good to me

  • Did you actually read the article? TL;DR dont kill the community you've built over 10+ years and here's how you do that..

  • Молодцы мои русские товарищи, продолжайте в том же духе! Россия хорошо, США плохо Molodtsy moi russkiye tovarishchi, prodolzhayte v tom zhe dukhe! Rossiya khorosho, SSHA plokho

  • If you'd been paying attention you'd notice that since 2014 the Ukrainians have been modernising there political and military. The previous governments were infamously corrupt and were dislodged by a popular uprising. This government has made great strides to uproot systemic corruption. It's not perfect but they are certainly improving and need to be encouraged in this and their efforts to dislodge the Russian invaders. Simply parroting Russian talking points (eg: corruption) will not do.

  • They refused to surrender as they would have all been executed had they surrendered. Crazy

  • So, this is your sisters pussy?

  • To be honest, I've been dissatisfied with Reddit for quite a while now but just didn't realise it. Once I dipped my toes into the Fediverse I realised what it was I'd been missing: that sense of community that Reddit used to have before it became too big, too cold and too corporate. In my defence I used RIF for years and was shielded from the worst excesses of corporate culture. After setting myself up on Lemmy and getting a bit of a handle on what's what I'm really enjoying the sense of intimacy and DIY ethos. It's far more like the Reddit I used to know. It feels good to be back.

  • Drag story reading times are universally free. What pisses me off more than anything is right wing nutcases who are prepared to bring violet protest to these sorts of events. This has to have a negative if not traumatic impact on the kids.

  • VW founded and designed but Porsche

  • Seriously, if we wanted to see Facebook memes we'd be on Facebook
