  • Yeah, just a heads up that your posts are federating out to this instance very slowly - not sure why exactly, but I suspect it's on the kbin end of things.

  • On Xbox One, there's still a noticeable amount of jank, but to be honest the story is good enough that I didn't care.

  • Yeah, this was a known thing when I was an undergrad, and that was not that recent. It seems it's only gotten worse since then.

  • Except it isnt f2p and doesnt have any microtransactions.

That part of it is appealing, though not if the game itself isn't worth the price of admission.

  • Sounds pretty standard for what was originally a mobile game. Trek's mobile efforts have never managed to grab me in the long term, though Timelines was okay.

  • I've never played it - how would you describe the gameplay?

  • An e-mail newsletter has now gone out with some additional information:

During its 7-year voyage, Star Trek™ Adventures has brought the intrepid explorers, alien worlds, and futuristic technology of the Star Trek universe to the tabletop, in immersive and faithful detail.

Now, the brand new second edition of the award-winning roleplaying game brings together crews from across the franchise, including Strange New Worlds and Prodigy, to explore the galaxy like never before.

Create original characters and live out their lives with a diversity of species and backgrounds from across the different polities of explored space, from Federation Starfleet officers to Klingon warriors, Romulan agents to Cardassian soldiers, and many more.

While Star Trek™ Adventures second edition's core mechanics have been streamlined, they remain fundamentally the same as the first edition, just snappier and smoother to play. Combat, ship management, character creation, and complex task mechanics have all spent some time in drydock, and have been upgraded to the latest Starfleet protocols - refined, refreshed, and ready for your new explorations!

Voyage into the unknown as the crew from any era, any fleet, and forge your character’s stories, where weird is just part of the job, and your service, sacrifice, and compassion will be truly tested.

These are the voyages of your ship, your crew. Live it together.

    Featuring:

    • An updated and streamlined version of the 2d20 System rules, designed for an authentic Star Trek experience
    • Compatible with 1E supplements and books (more on this later!)
    • Be part of a crew from any Star Trek era, including Prodigy and Strange New Worlds

The second edition core rulebook is expected to premiere at Gen Con in August 2024, with a Starter Set launching in the Fall, and much more to follow.

  • Indeed, I think the game as a whole is great, but the core rulebook is...not.

  • I stumbled upon this via this toot, which says streamlined mechanics and support for all eras of Star Trek are among the things included in this edition.

  • It's difficult to know what to say.

He seemed like a good man, and I'm glad he was as big a part of the Trek family as he was.

  • I just don’t care at this point.

    And yet here you are...

To claim a gift card, eligible customers must provide their email address by April 5, 2024. LPC Avocats says no proof of purchase is required.

  • I don't think that's necessarily surprising nor undesirable, especially since you had to say "almost."

  • In "Duet," Kira acknowledges to Sisko that her detention of Dar'heel violates policy, and may in fact be illegal.

  • Quitting a platform is always easier than you think it will be.

  • The political situation in the region is incredibly complicated - if Bajor is interested in prosecuting, they risk a renewed conflict with Cardassia, which neither they nor the Federation particularly want. On top of that, many Bajorans are skeptical of the Federation and its intentions, at least in the early days.

Plus...did Dukat ever "visit" DS9 (as in, physically board the station) without explicit authorization from the command staff?
