A Brand New Hirogen Ship!

  • Yeah, I think I'm right there with you - I didn't even notice the structural wonkiness until this most recent rewatch. The episode's a hoot.

  • I love/hate it when I get bumped by stupid stuff like that.

I'm also a "yea" - the one thing that bumped me was Ruby joining in so readily. My first assumption was that it was the magic at work, but then I remembered that they sort of introduced her musical talent during the pub scene. I don't think we saw quite enough to ascertain how talented she was, though.

  • I felt like I was talking to myself last week, and I don't actually have to be online to do that, so rather than type out my full thoughts on this one, I'll aim for controversy.

The Goblin Song: yea or nay?

  • I'm in a bit of a rut, as well - I mainly enjoy the story content, and the current multiverse arc isn't really grabbing my attention. I don't hate it, but I wouldn't say I'm highly engaged.

  • Assuming you're in the Netherlands, season 1 is apparently available on SkyShowtime, with season 2 "coming soon."

  • It occurs to me that they're referring to the headline, which...yeah, okay.

  • Should be quick and painless - those are pretty straightforward TFOs that I won't mind playing daily.

  • In this case, I think it would have been weird not to include Korby.

  • Another Hail Mary approach if all else fails could be to shop the story around to local media. If anyone bites, it could certainly lead to a quick resolution.

  • Yeah hopefully they can get some traction if they just keep at it. Like I said, I've been pretty fortunate in the past, but I know people who have had some pretty bad experiences.

  • I thankfully haven't had to deal with MPI for a long time (and truthfully, my personal experiences have been pretty positive), but their website suggests they will have to pay the deductible up front, but should get reimbursed once the issue of who is at fault is sorted out.

Is MPI flat-out refusing to pursue this? If so, what exactly are they saying to justify it?

The answer might be to make themselves as irritating to the adjustors as possible...nothing to lose, really.

  • I don't disagree with any of that - any governmental body should be scrutinized periodically, and as I mentioned, I'd love to see some information about why this guy was let go.

  • So assuming cutting the salaries of all executives everywhere is off the table, what's the solution?

  • The article says it was the result of a retroactive salary adjustment coupled with severance pay - unfortunate, but I'm not sure it's an egregious example of mismanagement (besides him apparently being a bad hire - I wish we knew more about why he was let go).

There's a lot of argument to be had over the relative value of CEOs across the board, but Shared Health presumably has to offer a salary that's competitive with the private sector.

  • I felt the synergy between this show and Picard went a little stronger than needed. Especially considering the first season was a little weaker than the others. It also felt a little late.

I really liked it, but then I think Picard's first season was the best one, and have been hoping we'd get another glimpse of just how game-changing the Romulan evacuation and subsequent events were. I never thought it'd be this show, though...

  • Emony Dax got handsy with Bones in the 2240s, and Audrid died in 2284.

In SNW's 2259ish setting, it should be one of those two.

  • It's pretty interesting that CBC isn't identifying the owner for some reason.

Not that jurisdictions are the most important thing here, but I would expect it to be on the province, not the city, to oversee something like this.

  • And then they went and opened with the return of Tennant and a plot featuring a villain from 1975 😂
