My wife is the same way with cotton balls and cotton pads. She will not touch them or be near anyone using them. She recently bought reusable makeup remover cotton rounds thinghy things which made makeup removal much easier for her.
She's always been like that, and we only recently discovered she most likely have autism.
And if they are not in front of the TV, the TV is still on.. At least my parents are like that. Turn off the damn TV! And they wonder why their electricity bill is so much higher than ours.
Your story seems a lot like ours, except that we never got noted as gifted, instead we were noted as lazy and if only we put in the effort, we could do anything that we set our minds to. We got bullied as well and both hated school. We were also different than our peers, and in some settings much more mature than our peers, and in other way more immature than our peers.
My wife and I only recently realised that we might were gifted children as well. Both of us never put any work into school, and still we ended up getting a master's degree, without putting much effort into it. And now we are seeing both our kids being extremely intelligent in some areas, which got me worried that they would end up hating school as we did.
We are comforting ourselves, that we are discovering this while the kids are pre-school age, but, right now, we don't really know what to do about it. We are though, hopeful and optimistic about the future, because we believe we can give our kids a better life than we have had ourselves. We both appreciate our current lives a lot, but we did not get here without a lot of scars - depression, anxiety, addiction to drugs and alcohol, etc..
Unmasking Autism is actually also on my reading list, but the reviews are really mixed about this book, but I think it might help me and my wife a lot, we have developed a lot of strategies to get through life, which obviously are draining us a lot.

This have happened quite often are we became parents. Our cortisol levels are just too high when we go to bed so we are just crashing, but then after we've slept for an hour or so, and one might make the move and wakes the other. It's actually quite hot, haha.

Det eneste der underligt er at den ikke bruger regen braking på fart pilot, men det er til at leve med, jeg ved ikke om MG4 er på samme måde, men ellers får man virkelig meget for pengene, og kører man økonomisk, så kan den også køre virkelig langt pr kwh, noget længere end hvad der er angivet. Det eneste der for mig er et minus er at den er kinesisk.

I've spent 4 months where all my code was written by AI. I built my own harness, introduced a lot of deterministic checkpoint/guardrails, to try to ensure a consistent output from agents.
It definitely improved the output, but... It is still not all too great, if you want code that live up to your own standards.
It have taken a lot of my time to try to build my own harness, tailored to my way of working, but it's difficult and time consuming. But I think that is what is needed to achieve a sort of reliable solution. The biggest issue is probably the cost of tokens.
A really small feature easily costs me $10 in tokens, if I am doing it the agentic way, and that is including smart model routing. These 10 dollars might have saved me a couple of hours, where I can work on something different.
Sometimes it is worth it, other times it is not, and it kinda sucks to be reliant on others harness's like Github Copilot, OpenCode, Claude Code, because each update changes something that might interfere with your own setup.
