Yep. It really depends on if you have to replace some basic hardware like pipes, tanks, and valves that you can do with sheet metal and a welding tool, or if they blew up the control center with the computers and the specialized hardware. Or maybe some of the specialized pumps and valves. Those are expensive, and so nobody has large quantities lying around.

When the Russians hit the Ukrainian power grid, the Ukrainians can get replacement parts from all over Europe and the rest of the world. But Russia has the problem that those parts are high up on the embargo lists, so they have to get either Chinese parts (which may need modifications on them or the controlling software), or smuggle the original items.

While the "general purpose" AIs are simply shit (and this won't change for the foreseeable future), specialized AIs for limited purposes have been a staple in gaming for ages.

I wrote a game called "sub hunt" on the TI99/4A (if anyone remembers it...). This was 40+ years ago, and used a kind of AI engine where the sub hunters learned about the players behavior. After a while, one had to restart the game because the hunters could easily predict where you would go...

I was scratching my head about this "vaccination with 5G chips" when I heard it. Apart from not being feasible, I was wondering where they got this absurd idea from.

Until I stumbled over a product: You can buy syringes with embedded RFID chips. That you can use to track "best before" dates and lot numbers with. Or one can check if they forgot one inside the patient after a surgery. It has, of course, nothing to do with the contents of the syringes, and of course it is not 5G but NFC/RFID. But yea, for the stupid and confused this is close enough.

The number also depends on whether you consider "short term" vs. "long term". Maybe it is 38% down at the moment, but they have spare parts to get some of it back up.

But they'll run out of spare parts rather quickly if Ukraine keeps up the speed. And then it gets interesting.

The only issue with this otherwise great idea is that "the developer says, that...". A browser API should have a way to only grant certain rights when this is technically disclosed, e.g. an extension can only access location data if this is (formally) declared, and must be able to cope without it if the user or any global policy disallows it.

What kind of hybrid are you growing here? A MOS6502 clone with 2MHz, a z80, and something that is probably another 6502 clone? One EPROM? No RAM? This could be a start of an interesting challenge...

As they are not doing their job, one might wonder what they are working on.

They don't want drunken partygoers to get maimed or killed on the way home. Both to avoid problems with their workforce, and to avoid headlines.

I actually do most of my development work on an old Linux laptop. I do use the shell occasionally, but most of my work is in an IDE and in an editor.

Some shitty games will hold out, but as long as the majority works better under Linux, I'm fine with it.

The device I designed at work can be formatted and reinstalled without interrupting its work.
