  • I have to be honest here. None. Not really. I'd rather have cheese in it's unmelted state. And I go through phases where I can't stand any cheese, and other times I can't get enough of it. Phases can last from a few days to a few months. Currently going through an anti-cheese phase. This will change, I just don't know when. And then I'll consume cheese in any form that presents itself. But I prefer non-melted.

  • Hugs. Lots of them. That horrible trap of getting stuck in place where you know quite well what everyone tells you what you ought to feel but somehow it's just not happening. If you think therapy will help, then it's worth a shot imo. It's a great way to sneak up on understanding the real issues. And therapy comes in a lot of different shapes and sizes.

  • Such a lovely warm evening. I have been sitting in my back courtyard, discussing a perfectly ripe avocado, a perfectly ripe brie and crackers with a glass of crisp cold white wine. To follow is the last gasp of cherry glykos I made last year with some icecream. Life gets no better.

Helth (and vegetables) can happen tomorrow.

  • Forgot to check this year's Ignobels cos Munich etc. til today - link

Not the best ever selection this year, though I didn't know that drinking alcohol improves one's ability to speak a foreign language. Proven by scientists. It's hard to beat the electrified chopsticks of 2023 imo.

  • Ouch. I don't like your chances of removing the stains. Maybe clean by whatever means that works, and then seal over the top with a viscous self-levelling compound (Bunnings). Re pitting, I'm thinking breeding grounds for airborne wild moulds/yeasts but you'd know better than I if this is likely a problem with your set up. Best of luck!

  • Probably not. Beer/mash has a lot of organics in it, and CLR is wonderful for removing stains due to non-organics but doesn't do so well with organics. Maybe oxygen laundry booster or washing soda would work better? Patch test essential.

EDIT: CLR is high risk of damaging the cement floor unless it's been thoroughly sealed with something non-reactive. Lots of micropitting which you probably don't want near the beer cos microbiology. Could wax lyrical about concrete/cement floors - used to work in the industry. Unless sealed, cement floors are VERY reactive to a lot of chemicals and stain/degrade very quickly. The worst is fats & oil contamination - does horrible things to concrete and very difficult to remove without damage. And beer is full of lipids, which crosslink easily with calcium carbonate.

You may be looking at grinding back and re-finishing the floor - I hope not but it depends a bit on what stage the beer was at when the beernami happened.
