  • School libraries ought to have all the major religious works of the major religions. Religion has a lot of influence on the world. There are a lot of reasons someone might want to learn about it.

Having just a Bible is bullshit, and imo overt religious indoctrination.

  • They're clearly not witches, as evidenced by the fact that they don't float.

  • It also said Amazon put customers seeking to cancel through a cumbersome "four-page, six-click, fifteen option" process, which the FTC said was known internally as "Iliad" in a nod to the Greek epic about the "long, arduous Trojan War".

At least we get to live in a dystopian hellscape that respects the classics.

  • That's one of the better articles I've seen about all this. They actually understand what's going on.

  • You can post on any instance that's federated with the one hosting your account.

  • I know my personal experience isn't statistical proof of anything, but I've known a couple of people who started using meth, then their life fell apart. I don't know anyone whose life fell apart first and started using meth later.

  • This is an ad masquerading as news.

  • "Only" a third on meth? Jfc that's high.

There are a lot of reasons people end up homeless. One specific drug being involved in a third of cases is huge.

  • He's been pretty open about what he was doing. Here's a lawyer going over the publicly available evidence back when Tate was first arrested. Presumably the cops found more evidence in the 5 months since then and will show it in court.

Tl;dw Tate publicly admitted to sex trafficking, kidnapping (through fraud), defrauding his girls, and tax evasion.

  • We believe that the state usurps the natural safety and freedom of individuals and communities to impose its own order.

I'd argue that "natural safety" is pretty dangerous, and safety is the main argument in favor of ceding freedom to the state.

    Nice writeup btw.

  • Amusingly, over the last few years, the same folks who spent decades twisting the arbitration system to their own advantage have been flipping out, now that arbitration claims have become a form of distributed denial of service attack in protest to the company’s bad behavior.

Lol, plaintiffs' law firm knows exactly what they're doing.

  • r/interestingasfuck and r/shittylifeprotips are both total free-for-alls. Nsfw, spez hate spam, random shitposts... I assume r/pics is still John Oliver. NSFW subs are posting Christian content.

Reddit is kinda on fire at the moment.

  • That's... insane. I briefly stuck my head into r/shittylifeprotips and r/interestingasfuck to see it with my own eyes and... they're burning it all down, aren't they? Shitposts, butthole shots, spam about spez, porn... no "normal" posts at all.

    ::Raises fist in solidarity::

Edit: spez is a greedy little pigboy

  • This is my main guitar, an Ltd Les Paul clone with Seymour Duncan passive pickups and a Floyd Rose.

The neck pickup has a coil split for single coil sounds, it plays great, sounds great, stays in tune forever.

I'm not sure why Les Pauls so rarely have Floyds... That's what I was looking for, and ESP were the only ones doing it.

  • This is clearly some 4d chess big brain business strategy.

We should run Reddit like that too.

  • Afaik Lemmy is a protocol used by a bunch of servers; lemmy.world, shitjustworks, lemmy.ml, etc. They're all (well, mostly) connected to each other, and each hosts various communities that any member can access. You can access it all through kbin, though kbin is different from lemmy. For example, this community is on lemmy.world, and you posted it here from kbin. I saw it and responded from kbin.

"All" gives you all the content your home server has access to.

I hope that's helpful. I'm still learning myself.

  • Blowing on dandelions and watching the seeds float away.

    Responsible adults don't propagate weeds.

  • "Defund the Police" was some of the worst branding/slogan I've ever seen. Like, opponents would literally just say "Can you believe they want to defund the Police?"

The actual ideas of the movement, like the program in this article, are great. They're popular, too. Demilitarizing the police has pretty widespread support.

But the first-glance impression of lawless anarchy that the "Defund" slogan brings up... You shouldn't need to explain why your slogan doesn't mean what it appears to mean.

  • The mods for r/guitar were (are?) pretty bad. The guys at r/guitarcirclejerk made a sport of seeing how stupid a post they could post on r/guitar without getting banned. Of course, actual noobs with stupid noob questions sometimes ended up getting banned for trolling, so they'd end up at r/guitars asking wtf.

It was kinda funny, kinda tragic. Dunno if it's still there.
