  • Insert ad featuring gymbro telling you about low t

  • They're both violations of the conditions of release. Two separate violations, unrelated except for being prohibited behavior.

  • My guess is they're cartel, and their boss didn't like the idea of someone shutting down their trade routes.

  • It's been a while since I read the Bible, but I remember a lot of emphasis on treating people you don't like with love and compassion. I don't remember anything in there prohibiting using someone's name because it's been changed.

Maybe this guy should read his book again.

  • It's totally different from wow. Wow is a real-time mmo. BG3 is a turn-based fantasy RPG (think Divinity:Original Sin or Wasteland 3).

  • Did they fix the thing where, after combat, my Flaming Sphere runs up to me like a puppy and accidently sets the whole party on fire before I can dismiss it?

    ::Looks ar patch notes::

    Dammit. Maybe next patch

  • He organized an event without getting a permit.

The permitting process ensures that there's adequate security, traffic control, etc.

He didn't do any of that legally required stuff, and the result was an angry mob. We've been through this. This is why you need a permit for large public gatherings, and why he's legally liable for what happened.

  • I have mixed feelings about this

On one hand, Daryl Davis is a hero, and his method actually works to de-radicalize people. I prefer using this method when I encounter bigots irl.

On the other hand, allowing bigoted speech in your online platform has the potential to drive away normal folks and turn your platform into the echo-chamber where bigotry flourishes that you mentioned. This is basically what happened to Voat.

I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall fight to the death to defend your right to say it.

I agree with this, but it's beside the point. This isn't a public space like a street corner, it's a managed public/private space like a bar, where the bouncer will kick you out for abusing other patrons.

  • Makes sense to me; I've seen how it happens.

    1. Recognize the US govt's imperialim
    2. Notice that US mainstream media generally downplays US imperialism
    3. Discover that RT gleefully covers and condemns US imperialism
    4. Conclude that mainstream news are corporate war apologists, while RT "tells it like it is"
    5. Walk around telling people that Ukraine is full of Nazis trying to genocide Russian-speaking Ukrainians, and Putin is just trying to stop the purge.
  • Mr Struk ... actively pursued a 'pro-Russian position' in the last week by 'communicating with the Russian Federation

Actively supporting an invading force during war isn't "having a different opinion," it's treason.

  • It can force those who disagree with defederating to find a new instance that has access to all the communities they want. It also makes onboarding new people significantly more complicated, as their choice of instance will drastically influence their feed.

To be clear, I'm not arguing against defederation, just pointing out that it causes issues that need dealt with.

  • I liked Ron Paul. I didn't always agree with him, but he had principles that he stood by and fought for. He was one of the few people in DC fighting the Bush forever-war surveillance-state in the years after 9/11.

I lost all hope for the Republican party when I saw the crowd at the Republican primary debate in 08 (iirc) boo him for saying that the Golden Rule (do unto others as you would have others do unto you) should apply to international relations.

He was ultimately a Don Quixote figure. Nobody wants a libertarian state. The right wants authoritarianism, the Dems want crony capitalism, the progressives want socialism or social democracy. He was shouting into the wind about freedom and privacy, the public shrugged, and the two parties established a surveillance state and dragged us into a twenty year quagmire.

  • Nice. I really enjoyed the first one.

  • Look into cluster b personality disorders and cptsd. This behavior sounds like "splitting."

I'm not a mental health professional, but lived with someone who was later diagnosed CPTSD, so I ended up doing a bunch of homework on wtf was going on.

  • I was fine using battle net. I was not fine with Overwatch turning into a shitty p2w cash grab.

  • I remember hearing an interview with him many years ago, and he shared a story about the shenanigans he got up to as a kid... he was into phone phreaking (used to be you could control the entire phone system by playing specific tones into any phone) and reprogrammed the phone system to think his friend's home phone was a pay phone. His friend's mom would try to call someone and the phone would ask her to deposit 20c. She was furious, and sent her son over to demand he fix it immediately.

I always thought that was one of the best pranks ever. RIP to a legend.

  • Keeping a grizzly away from peanut butter for an hour is an accomplishment.

Hilarious that this guy figured out a genuinely useful way to put deviant rescue bears to work and help fund their habitat
