  • Yeah, it didn't work. I reverted back.

  • That's a websockets issue. Hopefully will be fixed in 0.18 (they'll remove websockets)

  • Yes as a workaround I restart the lemmy container every hour.

  • Can be a few things:

    • Username already taken (check https://lemmy.world/u/username replacint username with yours
    • Password too long (I'll find out what Lemmy's max currently is)
    • Username too long (20 is max)
  • If any illegal content would be posted there, let us know. If it's 1 community, we can block the community. If it's all over the place, we can defederate. But I see defederation as a last resort. If there are other ways to keep our server safe I prefer that.

  • No, it's limited to 20

  • Oh there already was one, but it was broken (there's a bug with remote moderators...) I fixed it. Maybe you can DM the moderator if you can help.. he has many communities so he can use some help. Let me know if he declines, then I'll contact him.

  • Well if all the Reddit users would get over to Lemmy I guess all servers would need to scale up... but I think the server we have now is powerfull enough to grow quite a lot, as long as the software gets tuned ..

  • Maybe it was already created and deleted. Which name do you want to create?

  • which name did you try?

  • Best would be to have thousands of servers. I wouldn't make them subdomains of lemmy.world, but people could create separate instances for large communities, for example. https://lemmy-selfhosted.com Scaling: if the Lemmy software gets tuned a bit better, I think the current server could host at least a million users. But let's hope for more servers first...

  • Hmm, there are a lot of issues with Websockets, which Lemmy uses. I'm waiting for 0.18 to come out which replaces Websockets, so a lot of these issues should be gone...

  • Can you DM me the account name you're having problems with?

  • I think there is an issue with long passwords, I'll have to search their Github.

Submitting issue is known, it will take 30 seconds at least but the post is available immediately. That is being looked into.

The issue with posts changing and other strange behaviour I think is an issue with the websockets they use. In 0.18 they will replace websockets entirely so I hope that will solve many issues..
