I think the current hardware for Lemmy.world should handle maybe 1M users, if the Lemmy software is tuned.
If it should grow more, we need to look into horizontal scaling with Kubernetes.
But hopefully there will be more and more servers so the users can be spread more.
Well this is a hobby. One of many hobbies I have. But at the moment the one taking up most time.
But that's why I'm looking for a team. Some to help me admin my servers, some to moderate. The bigger the team, the less work for each, and the more coverage of timezones etc.
Nah.. It's only 27GB of images right now. I have around 800GB space, and can have disks (cheap HDDs in case of images) added to the server. Also pictrs will support S3 in the newer version.
