Hmm, best would be if those kids find a real hobby so they stop bothering us. On the other hand, it helps us understand Lemmy better and secure it.

Bored script kiddies have time in the weekends when they are allowed screen time by their mommies. Then they create scripts to bombard our server and grind the thing to a halt. Gives us the opportunity to improve things like rate limiting etc every time, but also means some downtime..

I've deleted over 4000 communities today 😁

Yes, terminology.. I mean single instance. And although you can create pg_dumps of separate databases, a true (online) backup of separate databases is difficult. Tools like pgbackrest or barman don't support it. (I mainly focus on Postgres)

Backup / restore gets complicated if you have multiple apps in 1 dB

I set some rate limiting on it when people were flooding the site with searches. We now solved that in a better way, so now I can lower the limiting for searches again. Please try again. (I had temporarily set it to 1 search per 60 seconds... )

Yes in Settings there's a Languages selection box.
