Did it hit any bare skin? Might be a good idea to get shots for rabies. Bat bites and scratches can be so small we don't feel them.

This. Defunding education, removing social safety nets, and scaling back labour laws all will force whole families of low income workers to replace the migrant workers for the same or worse pay.

Now they'll be doubly crushed when they can't convince you to stay next time.

It's just easier. I have both but I almost never use Mastodon anymore. Federation there doesn't seem to work right. I didn't know what an instance was so I joined mastodon.social. Finding and following people in the app doesn't always seem to work right if they're on another instance. Doing it in a browser is even more painful.

The people I liked to follow and interact with on X, many tried Mastodon and abandoned it, and many more are now on Bluesky. This creates momentum to "follow the crowd" as it were.

Additionally, you only have one chance to make a first impression. A lot of us tried Mastodon earlier and it wasn't ready. Bluesky started as invite-only, which drummed up interest before catching this zeitgeist of people leaving X.

Lastly, and maybe it's just me, but the font sizing on the official Mastodon app on Android is generally too small and can't be changed. Bluesky allows me to change it and make it more comfortable to use.

His work is probably just sending emails and booking meetings.

I mentioned to that guy that he MIGHT want to turn his lights off or there would be kids all night, but walking past at the end of our evening, all his lights were on still.

I think this is definitely part of it. When I was a kid, lights == giving out candy. Now, tonight, I had multiple trick-or-treaters almost go by my house before they noticed I was sitting outside with a bowl, despite the lights and decorations.

It's the worst treadmill. By the time I finish implementing/refactoring something, they replace it with a new standard and deprecate the old way.

That's why I don't store it with the Amontillado.

Yep! It's cold, damp, and dark and it goes on too long. Having to shovel snow is also awful. 0/10, do not recommend. I much prefer spring and summer.
