Like I said already, it's mostly old weapons without any real value.
USA has not contributed nearly enough. It was just breadcrumbs. Of course they have all the perogative to stop, but when you look at the economics of the situation, usa has no option but to continue and drastically increase funding for Ukraine. That is what is happening and will continue to happen until Ukraine is not occupied anymore and is protected enough against threats from Russia.
The aid you speak of that was supposed to be eliminated is only an aid mechanism which was never used. The aid is coming in through other channels, usually directly through congress. In reality, nothing has changed and it's likely this mechanism will also be soon reinstated to give Ukraine more options on the conditions it receives aid on.
If you want to talk numbers, I think Ukraine will need at least half of the usa military budget to win this war and more to keep the Russian hordes at bay after the war. Europe can provide some of that, but where weapons are in question, that is more of a usa thing.
If America wants to keep it's status in the world, which provides enormous diplomatic and economic benefits, they have to step up when that is needed.
The west can not afford to let Ukraine be destroyed and taken over by Russia. It would set an incredibly dangerous precedent and it would send a certain message to all allies and everyone else that would destroy diplomatic standing of usa. The support usa gave is miniscule, mostly old weapons that they would have to pay do destroy anyway. Miniscule in regards their military budget, a budget that is huge exactly because of Russia and threats like it.
Russian bots do a lot of damage. I see it in my own country Slovenia. All the biggest public forums are overrun by extreme pro Russian sentiment. Any reasonable debate is out of the question. It creates a bubble for radicalising people, especially young people that need a reason to rebel against the government, the west and EU.
It feels like the year 2200 not the year 10000.
I know that's strange to say. Everything is familiar, it could be another movie. When I watch it, my mind doesnt start to wonder about the back stories of people, buildings,... I don't have to use my brain, it's all there.
I'm a big fan of the movie, i never understood why people didn't like it. It's a classic. One of the rare scifi that gives you this grandiose feeling of being in a big universe with lots of politics and interests everywhere. The new dune doesn't give you this feeling. The new one is generic scifi.
Not that I don't like it, but if a story is happening in the year 10.000 than the setting should be strange, esoteric, hard to comprehend. This old movie tried to do this, the new one doesn't have that.
Reddit was leftist not long ago. Not really leftist, just a bit left leaning. In my communities that changed drastically from 2020 and on. When I stopped using it a couple of months ago, my favourite subs were already mainly right wing.
They are the best example what happens when people are locked in their echo chamber. They are radicalizing themselves to the point of absurdity. The statements they make are so illogical its hard to even have a discussion about it, because they literally deny truisms.
Yes that's one of the disgusting ones. So naive and stupid. These hexbear people are degrading Ukrainians like they have no agency for themselves, like they have no wants and motivations as a nation and individuals. With these disgusting statements they are demeaning their fight and their lives. On the other hand there is the caricature America that somehow like an evil shaman, directs others into doing their bidding.
Grotesque.
