  • Great to hear!

  • Hi, I'm thinking of maybe creating an account on lemmy.zip.

What I read in the legal docs looks promising. I have one question however: I do not see a proper imprint at lemmy.zip . Is the site and the domain privately owned? Not in a foundation or anything? If yes, are there plans in place in the case of the site owner stepping down from the project? Like transfer to another admin? Or could something like on lemm.ee with a closure happen as well at some point hypothetically?

  • Do you know how it is with the thumbnails for third party hosters? Do they generate as lemm.ee thumbnails?

  • Lemm.ee had and still has strict limitations to image uploads, forcing its users to use external image providers like catbox.moe or postimages. So these images should all still be there.

Granted, I'm not sure how the thumbnails for these externally hosted images work and if they're exclusively stored on lemm.ee

  • This. And I'd bet there is something that OP can easily do that the rich kid/his family are not used to.

  • First known all-lgtbq+ crew. I'd bet somewhere around the world this already happened but purely by day-to-day business.

  • Maybe admins/app developers doing test posts?

  • Are there plans to add or maybe add more in the future, or is that not currently planned?

  • I dont think lemmy supports this. Posts and comments on your "old" account will stay there and if you look at that profile from the view of another account, will still be visible.

Maybe exporting them as a downloadable archive is possible? So you could keep a copy on your desktop? I dont know.

  • It won't be gone, but rather appear as an archived copy when the profile is displayed from an existing working instance. So the posts and comments will all still be there.

The bookmarks however I don't know.

Subscriptions can be exported out of your current account and then imported into your new account.

  • They also defederate from piracy communities

  • They didnt need mods though, they needed admins

  • The @ behind your Username says lemm.ee , so yes you are a lemm.ee user

  • I am not sure how much work it would be to make boost work with Piefed.

But I'm at the same dilemma right now: do I want to switch to a piefed instance and try it out? Then I'd need to abandon boost and use an UI that I consider worse. Or I pick another lemmy instance so I can keep using boost.

Having the ability to use piefed with boost would be awesome.

  • Problem is that people who saw the last couple of movies can't be bothered to show up for Marcel movies anymore. Plus it has strong competition from other movies so casual stroll-ins into movie theatres might choose to watch something else

  • Riri is the obvious Marvel Studios-mandated appearance imo. Maybe Coogler was the one who wanted to include her - but it very much feels like Marvel was like "hey you need to have her in this movie in order to set up her series".

  • They fund interesting projects anyways. It's not like all donations go into managers pockets. But yes it is something to keep in mind for sure.

  • Not just political efforts - for example they fund their outreach programs and workshops for disadvantaged people to get their specialized knowledge onto Wikipedia.

But yeah, hosting is already funded therefore I dont currently feel the need to donate to Wikimedia.

  • Or.. Lawrence gets another driver to not make use of Drugovich once again. Bottas would be available (and Zhou as well I guess).
