  • The Trump administration has not disclosed vetting procedures, despite growing scrutiny over DOGE hires and security clearances.

  • This implies that local availability of competitive products exists, which for the vast majority of things in the US is not the case. So many of our goods are made overseas and imported.

Tariffs are going to raise consumer expenses till one of two things happens: Local production ramps up and provides local goods (at likely a similar or higher price because our wages are higher than overseas) or a political change occurs that results in the removal of the tariffs. Either way US consumers are going to feel the increased cost of goods for the foreseeable future...

  • It does seem some context is missing/over generalization of actions and events. I would be surprised that your mutual friends would side with her given the above events unless they were her friends first and felt an obligation to stick with her.

That said, if what Is posted is truly accurate, then your are not the asshole. It seems you acted reasonably and had reasonable expectations. Some people can't handle a long distance relationship (me included) and start having insecure thoughts about the relationship and try to "read between the lines" despite there not being anything there.

  • But that's exactly what's being shown in the Atlanta "Changes from 2020" and Milwaukee "Changes from 2020" images posted. I do agree blue voter turnout was overall less for whatever reason, but I'm not sure that would explain those results.

  • One guess could be a latent result of people moving out of the cities as a result of the pandemic. This probably started in 2020, but may have continued since as a result of more remote work possibilities and/or desire to be in less densely populated areas.

As cities traditionally are blue leaning, this would result in democratic proportions in surrounding areas increasing and proportional decrease in cities.
