  • It feels like traffic instantly doubles after you cross the California border, but that could just be me. The Palm trees are also noticeably different in Cali.

  • Even in the used market, you’d be foolish to not buy a used s24 or OP12

  • It all makes sense why Google was pivoting to a lifestyle brand in its keynote… they will never make it with the performance-forward demographic with current trends, so they have to attract other buyers. I really hope this is the worst year for the pixel line, because it is just flatly unacceptable what they’re pushing performance wise.

  • this happens so often in Aceh that it's not even noteworthy at this point

  • The pixel 10 comes with an SOC that benchmarks roughly the same as a Galaxy S21. You’re literally buying a phone at full price to downgrade if your phone is newer than that (as far as anyone else is concerned)

  • This data to me didn’t show much in the way of by-field statistics. If we’re comparing software development pay at the naîssance of the field to today, it should be complicated to do so. I’d expect to look at top 5% at the very least because of how new and niche computing and coding in general was in the 90s.

You have to expect that OP, who is well established in his field, to compare accordingly, not with average pay of 1990.

  • Nothing probably has the better processor, so go with that. They’re already underpowered as it is.

  • And here I am with the strong belief that 1000Km is the range at which I’d be happy with. EVs degrade over time, and one must undercharge them to 80% on a daily basis. 1000Km also solves the road trip issue, being able to drive until you’re tired and then charge to rest. Then also, EVs would be better than gas cars and be a better deal overall.

  • I hate everything about tobacco. Drink? Only specialish occasions.

  • Something immutable with VNC for tech support

  • As someone who strongly believes the gym and exercise should be apolitical, it’s kinda gross when you see Fox News playing on the TV. That said, you really shouldn’t be in the gym longer than you need to be, and it’s not supposed to be a hangout spot; equipment is finite and has to be shared. Go hang out in a park or bar or arcade or whatever.

  • People who live here are used to the heat. I ride my bike in >40° weather all the time. People who aren’t used to the heat yet will start to ride right before sunrise when it’s 27-30°. To give you another frame of reference: I set my HVAC to 25.5° year round and turn it down to 24.5° when I’m “overheated” (room temp <24° is unbearably cold to me). We’re just built different here.

  • I really wanna know why developers can’t focus on animations and UI consistency… I tried Firefox on iOS, and the lack of linear touch animations made me immediately stop using it.

  • for international context here: this is (one of) the hottest major city in the country world; we have year round bike weather. This happens all the time unfortunately.

  • Voyager has been 100% solid for me.

  • My sister who “finished” high school in 2014 because of no child left behind is the biggest fucking moron you could imagine. Huge trump supporter, engaged to a fucking loser drunk who’s the same.
