  • Does any license slow you down

I certainly comply with software licenses so yes, that does slow me down. As they pointed out this precludes it from appearing in Linux distros and such.

Incidentally, I've gotten into very long and stupid arguments with people about Stable Diffusion's Definitely Not Open Fucking Source license.

  • “Real” musicians turned their nose up at digital music when it first came out

You got any evidence for that? What do you even mean by "digital music?" That's not a category I think musicians recognize. You may he confusing digital with electric which was not exactly as you're describing it.

  • I can’t understand people who watch streams of other people playing D&D but I know those are wildly popular.

I suppose people also watch other people play video games which is about the point where I started to feel like a confused out of touch elder.

  • Nobody in the LW discussion seems to understand the many points between “saving the world” & “do as thou wilt is the whole of the law“.

Black and white thinking is a classic hallmark of... something.

  • The Irish discourse in race nu-uh ism. Like yeah, white people did some shit to the Irish. But then the Irish got upgraded to White status. The exact boundary of what we consider 'white' has changed and imposing it retroactively on historical figures and trying to imagine a unified 'white culture' of the pre-colonial world is silly.

Like if you want to be proud of your euro heritage, great, get some flags and learn to cook your favorite old country dish. But if you conceptualize it as this grand unified 'white heritage', we can see the klan hood.
