  • Whoa, Sync has been my most used Android app for the past 5 or 6 years and I never knew the origins of its name. I just figured naming products is harder than most people think (trying to be original and memorable) hence the basic Sync moniker.

  • For me, it was how amazing Sync's navigation was. I found myself trying to use Sync's gestures in other apps--they're THAT intuitive and reliable. I'm honestly surprised Google or Apple haven't poached the developer to work on making the UIs of their built-in apps work more consistently.

For now wefwef is really good and does everything I need this type of app to do (mainly adjustable font sizes for my old man eyes with a minimalist interface which I prefer over the information overload that most seem to prefer, different strokes and all).

  • r/NBA was a mess at the best of times but at least it didn't have that idiotic Twitter requirement that r/NFL does for news posts.

That said, I hope Lemmy sports communities start becoming popular. I don't need every post to have 10,000 comments but a solid discussion would go a long way towards keeping me off Reddit for good.

  • I'm definitely sticking around. It was slow going on Lemmy after Reddit's third party app shutdown on 6/30 but there's been a noticeable uptick in posts and comments in the communities I follow which is great. I don't need 5,000 responses per post and Lemmy's discussion volume works just fine for me.

There are still a few interests I follow that aren't present on Lemmy that I'm aware of (pro wrestling and NFL being the big ones), but hopefully those arrive soon.

  • I don't know if we'll ever see a full episode with flashbacks to everything he's been through, but oddly enough I don't mind the intentionally vague references to it so far--leaves it open for our imaginations (and fan fiction) to fill in the gaps.

  • Wow, these SNW writers really bring it each week, don't they? Not to say every episode is perfect but I've found every single one to be very entertaining and exactly what I want out of Star Trek in 2023. The combination of standalone stories mixed with underlying character development and arcs is perfect.

As for this week, the idea of encountering a planet that could make you forget everything was weirdly creepy, if not a bit implausible. Even if this wasn't her showcase episode, I grinned at Ortega's "I AM THE PILOT!" moment. Also enjoyed the away team being out of sorts on the planet which I thought was well done and not an action overdose like the season opener.

  • I was using Reddit mobile to follow some interests that don't have any communities on Lemmy yet and noticed the obscene number of awards on that ad. How in the world did that happen?

I'm really enjoying seeing the Lemmy communities I follow grow noticeably in just the past few days and hope people stick with it.

  • Definitely more prolific thus far considering all the communities I've found on Lemmy so far are for hobbies and interests, and not just the slew of assorted cat pic subreddits I was subscribed to on Reddit. I'm sure the latter will come in time though.

  • Same here--wefwef is amazingly solid for such an early product.

If Sync for Lemmy gets off the ground and is anywhere near as good as the Reddit version, I'll probably switch to that since it was easily my most used Android app before Reddit lost its mind.

  • If you're not a fan of high information density, I recommend Overdrop. It presents the key information in a simple, clear way.

Also been testing Weather Today which seems to be another good one in the few weeks I've had it.
