  • If and only if someone is insane enough to develop off-planet manufacturing with the bulk of the raw materials originating from somewhere in deep space, e.g. asteroid mining, putting data centers in space might be useful for problems that demand intensive compute and can work with extreme latency.

Then again that's like saying inventing the airplane would have been a good strategy for Neanderthals to find better firewood.

  • I'm still so nervous around black people that I'm scared of doing some microaggression and pushing someone into beating the shit out of me that I act super too nice which is just another fucking microaggression.

Maybe I misread this but I don't think it's fair to say i made it up out of whole cloth. No well adjusted person is going to beat the shit out of someone because of a microaggression. I cannot imagine where this fear would come from unless this person has actually been beaten up or knows someone who has been beaten up.

  • I was quite drunk and reading between the lines. I still think it's wild to be afraid of being around black people because you think you'll get physically harmed for a microaggression. Like, that's gotta come from somewhere. The way they framed it as "pushing someone into beating the shit out of me" makes it sound like they think they'd deserve it. Which if they were screaming slurs or parroting Nazi talking points, yeah maybe, but those aren't really micro aggressions are they

  • so youre saying youre... Afraid for your safety around black people because you got beaten up for something you said at some point? That doesnt sound like self awareness or a micro aggression, that sounds like trauma from catching the wrong person on the wrong day

  • I have noticed that occasionally the nitpicking collides with poor reading comprehension to create some of the most annoying yet hilarious comments ever.

So like the reply ITT would be something like uh yeah op sounds like a you problem, that's completely fucking false about lemmy. People take things way too seriously here, and everybody is way too nitpicky and judgemental.
