  • Oh definitely a possibility, and I'm not sure how much you know about Jamaican culture, but they are not exactly fond of gay folks down there, some of their stances on homosexuality tend to be similar to Uganda's stances on homosexuality. One of Jamaica's most internationally recognized dancehall reggae artists, Beanie Man, was banned from entering the UK under hate crime laws because of his words, lyrics, and deeds towards gays, he's since apologized in 2010, but still, not a good place to be gay.

  • Thx bro, I just remembered I forgot my skull in Sleepy Hollow, NY way back in 1780, guess I'll stop by the town and see how things have changed, maybe ride down a villager or two while I'm there and see if their skulls will fit instead if I can't find my own.

  • Not to sound like a tankie (I hate the US and Russia equally, and China only slightly less), but isn't that what the West has been doing since forever?

Sure but firstly this hits a bit different when Russia, China, SA, and their buddies have an abhorrent record of human rights abuses in the modern era, the US has historically been bad, but no worse than their peers. So to avoid getting into whataboutism sure the US protects their interests, but outside of when someone like Trump and the MAGAs controls, the US generally sides with human rights, religious freedom, and equal rights, things may not always work out how we hoped they would but at least we're trying to help stabilize the world.

The main point you should understand is that this isn't a Russia, China, US, SA, Israel, whatever, problem, this is a Far Right vs everyone else problem. The Far Right is nationalism, monarchies, tyranny, fascism, religious fundamentalism, we see leaders like Netanyahu, Putin, Trump, Erdogan, Modi, Xi, Orban, Khomeini, the SA Qatari and UAE rulers, and others all coordinating with the same people, outlawing the same things, they breed corruption, and their interests aren't legitimate because they operate as kings/mafia bosses, these are the people making minorities unsafe, through demonization and persecution, they threaten freedom of speech mostly because they don't want to be exposed and be criticized, and they all have a "religion" they want to force on us, religion is in quotations because China and Xi force communism as a religion sure it's under the guise of atheism but to them Mao was Jesus and the teachings of communism is their Bible.

To go further into it, you can trace the money supporting the worst people in the world back to a few Western billionaires, their Eastern counterparts, and a few specific countries, like Russia, Iran, China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, and Israel. Just look at how China, Qatar, and the Saudis have financially backed Elon Musk, Trump, and many similar people.

Obviously I'm not trying to say leftists and centrists are blameless in all of this, but overtly they are generally not helping actual dictators, they aren't trying to help the rich get richer and more powerful, and they're trying to support minorities, workers rights, human rights, and so on.

I'm sure you can say I'm biased, but this is how I see the pieces fitting together, and why to me that it's so troubling seeing the UN fall under the sway of some of the worst examples of bad actor countries, it's creeping global fascism and at the moment we are one bad US election from the global tyrants and wannabe tyrants divvying up the world how they want and us little people suffering for it.

  • Charbonneau said HRW tried to lobby other countries among the current 45 CSW members, which include states with much better records on women’s rights like the Netherlands, Japan, Portugal and Switzerland.

“If they all raised a big enough stink, then it wouldn’t happen,” he said. “But everyone is just quiet. Someone could call a vote, and no one seems to want to do that either, which strikes me as ridiculous.”

There's definitely something corrupt and fuckey going on here.

  • Can we start to call out how corrupt the UN has become? China, Russia, Saudi Arabia have started to dominate the UN while doing stuff like this and vetoing things that affect their long term goals, like stuff that benefits human rights, while all having abysmal human rights abuse records.

  • Did you know that, by default, Windows PowerShell doesn’t allow normal users to run scripts?

Yeah it's called access control, which is a basic tenant of IT security, letting any knucklehead run PS scripts is heading for disaster at worst, and a huge headache at best.

Also, the amount of users who have access to Unix in any environment is reasonably small, and they are usually vetted and trusted individuals, whereas most of the business segment of any organization is using Windows.

So do you really think Ken in shipping needs to run some PS scripts? Or Derek in Sales, or Joan in HR, or Ralph in maintenance?

  • I don't see anywhere where I whined about anything, but nice to see that you get triggered over anybody not having a completely delusional anti-US take.

I'm just calling it how I see it, if your bitch ass thinks I'm whining maybe you should bone up on your f'n reading comprehension skills.

  • Lol, you are pretty naive if you think it's that at all.

Barbecue is literally named for cooking and eating his enemies, do you actually think any respectable country wants to play nice with that kind of guy? Also the guy is completely out to gain power, that's it, and if the US was willing to deal with him in any positive way he would be singing their praises, because again, it's not about revolution, this guy is a gangster, he just wants power and control, and legitimacy from the US would mean he's going to win.

Also the US has been largely hands off with Haiti for the last twenty years, the US/Haiti relationship is almost as complicated as Israel and Palestine, especially when Haitians make up such a large demographic in the US. Ever since Obama's administration and the Red Cross scandal US policy towards Haiti has mostly been hands off, which Trump's administration took drastically further, since Trump's foreign policy is extremely isolationist, plus all of Trump's racist and classist bullshit.

The only Americans causing problems down there rn are criminal gun runners who are working with the criminal element of Haiti, namely Barbecue's people, to take over the country, illegally and absolutely not democratic. Those criminal Americans should be arrested and tried ASAP.

  • First of all the "everything I don't like is communist/socialist" were never ridiculed for their viewpoint, once Russia collapsed and China went mostly capitalist the communist rhetoric mostly dried up, but the anti socialist rhetoric remained and still remains, as does the much less talked about red-scare rhetoric, especially after a bunch of supposed "Antifa" dingbats allowed themselves to be interviewed on Fox News and admitted to being Communist/Anarchist, in the same way that the antiwork movement got derailed by that idiotic moderator going on Fox news.

Secondly the "everything I don't like is communist/socialist" crowd is the "everything I don't like is woke" crowd, if we had a Venn diagram about this is would be like a 90% overlap, same type of people, same types of mindsets, both with white Christian fundamentalism at it's root, and if you dig a little deeper you'll find that under that those roots are built right on top of Confederate ideals and white supremacy.
