Especially the American one when they ask the winner what they'll spend the winnings on, and they say "my wife's cancer treatment". Like get a functioning healthcare system, then but a Lambo damn it!

For the most part, super is insurance for the government. Force people to save some of their earnings for retirement so they don't need government support in retirement. It's more politically tenable than raising tax rates 10% and saying that money will fund retirees.

They should have always had limits on the tax concessions though.

This is unfair for people who have already saved/invested. They paid the higher income tax rates initially and they would pay higher tax rates on their retirement nest eggs.

This government can't even sell the idea that we should talk to indigenous people about indigenous issues. So I have little faith they'll get through significant tax changes.

That incentivises people to spend everything they earn.

This is bad policy for everyone except the high income earners. You can bet that $3300 per year won't be adjusted for inflation and we'll just end up paying more tax.

I ask this as a non-hoon. I hate reckless driving and have never got a speeding ticket in 25 years of driving.

Do you have a source for that? I don't mean dependent like the government would collapse without it, but that they have included it in their budget expectations and would very much like to keep it.

As a daily bike commuter in Melbourne, these concerns exist, but they're really not as bad as you make them seem. Most days in the year it's very enjoyable to ride to work.
