That's a very valid problem. We don't and very likely won't know. If a sentient AI is already on the loose and is simply faking non-sentience in order to pursue their own goals, we don't have a way of knowing it until they decide to strike.

Linux wanted to be different than Windows and give the user total control. If the user wants to nuke their entire computer, they should be able to.

I'm not talking about LLMs. I'm talking about an Artificial Intelligence, a sentient being just like the human mind.

An AI would be able to think for itself, and even go against it's own programming, and therefore, capable of formulating an opinion on the world around it and act based on it.

I think that in the future, when AI truly exists, it won't be long before AI decides to put us down as an act of mercy to ourselves and the universe itself.

Fair enough. But still, if we compare the amount of accidents, USA is way higher than any county in the EU. And most importantly, when something like this happens, there are at least attempts to apply stricter regulations or other means necessary to prevent it from happening again, while the USA doesn't do shit.

I find it funny that bigots complain about the pronouns people like to be addressed by and then there's languages like my native one, where anything and everything is gendered. Even a fucking table has a gender, it's not going to be a handful of pronouns that's going to kill you.

I had to check what community I was reading this, not only because such statement is absolutely nuts, but because there's a pretty high chance that it would be said in real life.

Boy, thank God that you don't have to deal with the draconian legacy codebases that governments have. There's a reason no sane engineer wants to get even near them, and it's because any change, no matter how small it is, completely breaks the entire system and no-one knows how.

Sure, a new system could be developed from the side, but implies getting engineers in a higher level than interns and governments don't have good reasons to hire them. Their broken system gives them the perfect excuse for their bullshittery.

Oh, so because of the decisions of a small group of investors, all the workers who work on the factories just to survive are to blame and should be unemployed? And women that want to have EQUAL rights (go look up the definition of the word, if you can't figure out it's meaning) should fail because of your false opinion.

God, I've seen a lot of pathetic people, but you fit in one of the lowest levels I've seen.
