  • I corrected gMaps about 20-30 times over the last few years since we moved into a new building (first renters -- whee!). I actually had work peers submitting corrections too.

Finally, out of the blue, it was fixed, and now I check weekly for it to revert. Now, fucking UPS losers who can't read huge numbers on the side of the road can find me again ... and drop my package out on the street in front of the building for the free-rangers to steal. You're gonna love how my new presbyopic, astigmatic, myopic eyeglasses feel on your face, you dick.

I'll try a correction to OSM next time. That's GENIUS.

  • The town and hospital where I was born has a name I cannot pronounce and uses letters I can't currently replicate.

I got lost driving in the town where the school was from which I graduated - and thus first learned to drive - since trashy bungalow sprawl has created new roads and subdivisions that all look alike. Thank fuck for gMaps, but fuck you to the pride that had me navigating by memory.

I'm okay getting lost where I am, now, as the place I'd go back to no longer exists and I'd probably get lost there too.

  • You can. I

    1. opened gMaps
    2. grabbed my lat/long
    3. corrected the nearby URL because in #Canada it's always wrong when on desktop
    4. found the building I was in is apparently 1.3 km away, which will affect my walk to the loo

But the facility being wrong is secondary; it's possible.

  • Outside of America, cops need a union because, when they don't, we end up with a national police force that has the distinction of being the best-trained on the continent AND the lowest-paid at the same time; and without post-traumatic care or an organized legal fund against what is a remarkable stream of false-arrest complaints (which must of course be heard but so many are junk). Without even the shitty union they have to give them nearly nothing, these underpaid mental cases will leave the force either in a straightjacket, in a body bag or in handcuffs.

Let's agree that this isn't ideal.

In short, like every job, the employer is kinda treating you like shit unless you can bargain collectively. Let's do ambulance attendants next.
