  • I like this.

Flatpak is so bad for single-source-of-truth for install state that you should have to put in your password every time just to confirm you understand the pain you're signing up for.

My only advice here would be if they can change the prompt to say

THANK YOU SIR! MAY I HAVE ANOTHER!
    password: *******

  • Generalizations are so lazy.

Would you call an ambulance attendant a bastard?

My sister in law moonlights as volunteer fire and volunteer ambulance when she's not working as a cop. I think she's awesome and I've known her 30 years, but I'm interested to know what you think given she's Fire, Ambulance, and cop.

  • This looks like the worthless spooge at the top of every job advert.

Look. I don't give a flying as to whether your company is a 'top employer' or 'leading the region in paper sales'; or whatever. That makes absolutely nothing for value to the job seeker just hoping to confirm it's not phone sex.

I liked the Motion Recruitment ads, for what it's worth: "Widgetron designs 13-tooth stepdown wormgears. They need a sysadmin to join a team running 300:1 rhel9 with mgmtConfig automation who can run with the upgrade. They're offering c$115k. 15 days + 1day/3yr and avoidable standby. union. " Just facts and terms so the applicant can skim and filter properly.

I don't know whether it's a nerd thing, but the flowery onanist junk isn't any use to us.

  • I'm sitting in one now. It's 20 years old. It's time for a new one.

BUT. They're repairable. The local HM dealer can tell you where to send it for an assessment. It'll not have its warranty back, but for 7,000 days of heavy use, this thing's doing well. Its back and pan are good, and it's really just a few stabilizer bits that look like they're the patented 'first thing to eventually go' struts. It could be a $200 repair and it's back in business. But I'll have a new one this year because my ass wants to see a new one.
