  • The new train in Ottawa was built to be rebuilt.

The guy who built it - apparently fired from Translink/BC and failing upward - built warm weather trains for ottawa; that's only useful for like 4-5 months of the year. The rest of the time, though, the power shoes - which aren't inverted and can't get through the snowpack - start failing and I guess the trains brown out.

The platforms, built without a better idea in mind - Edmonton is a place, guys! - are also warm-weather platforms. Comparing Tunney's Pasture with Sapperton or VCC shows how one influenced the other. They're designed like Vancouver stations, they look like Vancouver stations, and I'm gonna need convincing they didn't source from the same suppliers or use leftovers from Vancouver stations.

But SNC-Lavalin - or whether they skilly rebranded to because no normies will remember - delivered on time for their bonus.

Now it leverages a Sunk Cost fallacy to actually become stations that work. We can't toss them out, but they're going to require a huge investment to retro-fit them for modern Capitol weather.

But this train is also 1/4 built. It needs to get down to baseline, run past hazelden, and turn up TerryFox for Centrum and the tech park. This bullshit of running near the river makes half of it useless as fish don't take transit and do don't need to be in the direct catchment for a station. Where the hell is barrhaven's representation and a link to Fallowfield or a similar station on the way to the airport? Where's the connection to any other mode of travel, for that matter?

They have a lot of building to do, and not a little bit of 'splaining.

  • If I read the bible more I'm sure I could find a passage about squandering something now and having nothing later. Like "Robbing Dave to pay Doug" or something.

Is there something in there about "if you're a shit guest you don't get to stay there anymore"?

Yeah, Luke10:7 can be a metaphor for taking more than given. Proverbs 25:17 - not ezekiel - says maybe don't overstay your welcome.

  • Sometimes it's bigger than Waterloo. This is facepalmilarity the whole world can enjoy.

It could even come in number two after a whole bunch of narcissist babies afraid of needles jumped in their pretty chrome dodge rams and - with a handful of truckers and some imported fascists for guidance - drove to the nation's capital to block traffic, commit mailslot arson, block people and emergency personnel and disturb the peace on a grand scale, and then threatened to guillotine the prime minister to effect a coup and tried to maintain a trade embargo. That global embarrassment was laughed-at by the world over; and I'm certain has and will affect Canada's invitations to other 'five eyes' kind of groups.

  • I'm shocked - shocked! - that the brother of one of our highest-ranking drug-addicts would be aware, let along complicit in some kind of kickback or influence scheme in a province he won with a 'buck a beer' campaign. He wouldn't stand for such threats to his reputation, raw hard cash payout notwithstanding, and his obviously-discerning constituents wouldn't accept such simplistic and blatant scams. I mean this time.

  • A few comments.

    passersby

Oh come ON, global. You were so close to adequate with this one. Millennial wordjoining[sic] showed a certain laissez-cassé . You bête!

    You have to protest yourself

I bet that's not what they said. More smooth copy-editing, global.

    In General

    • Involve the pros, early and often.
    • be wary of volunteers; even this one which your cousin's wife's buddy says is cool. Some people volunteer for the wrong reasons.
    • don't put your address on the flyers; name and email only
    • don't let your cat out ever, but this case is different and we all get that.
  • Looks like a little too much honestly leaked out around the Karen Convoy and Crybaby Blockades, and they want to keep their real feelings down until they're the ones who can wield the stick. I'm NOT interested in seeing their provincial bumbling around vaccines and disaster prep hit the federal scale.

  • bad for any government that they would be apart of.

Oh, I think, on the contrary, that we definitely do want these people to remain apart from any real government.

(hint: joining words randomly is fun, unless they reverse the meaning of the sentence for people who read what you write)
