  • I don't know what you're looking for here, for my side you're doing good, ask them what their stance is on all the fucking shit websites, corporate media, open source projects that went all in with #standwithUkraine or suddenly putting random Ukrainian flags everywhere.

Its not about impartiality that's for sure but being on the "right" side, so I don't know what your expectation is but certainly don't hold out any hope of converting any libs. Maybe start anonymously posting Ukranazis with their innocent "norse runes" and stuff and claim you support the troops or something, might as well.

Otherwise yeah good luck, if they're not hypocrites(need a damn miracle) maybe they'll look back and see the hipocrisy of Ukrainian flag shit everywhere since last year but again, I doubt that.

  • This feels like more corporate conservatism, definitely something typical of the old male corporate leadership, the fucking 80 dinosaurs that just wont retire trying to think more about the long term future of the franchise and being scared about being at the front of a "social issue" even though for the target audience here, gay relationships are definitely not taboo in any way in media, though it may not be their preference.

With regards to China I do think it is possible that these out of touch execs are self-censoring because they think it will be easier to avoid problems in the future, i.e their own misguided and false perception of China(let alone the west and even JP itself) makes them believe self-censorship will be beneficial.

Also this is not about male otaku pressure at all, yuri fandom is very much male gaze oriented like it or not so if they were male partners, yeah maybe. But even then I think Yuri on Ice and Free are like a decade old now even mainstream yaoi is not taboo to anyone in JP so yeah its very much likely male cowardice BS. Maybe if someone can go and look at 2ch reaction but I very very much doubt anyone is supporting them.

  • Do we need to go over the problems that arise from putting memes in front of discourse?

How insulated a community has to be in order for someone to end up thinking "I don't really know if X is good or bad and I'm too afraid to ask."

Of course we have many, maybe most people here with a strong consciousness and good rhetorical foundation, but I shouldn't have to mention the dozen of struggle sessions over the years over so much stuff.

In hindsight one can always say "but I always thought X was [the correct take here]" but doing it in real time is not as straight forward as it seems.

In the end we realy do need a "Beginners guide to Hexbear" somewhere just to be safe.
