Discussion of social media in Aotearoa. No mention of the fediverse (at least in the article, haven't listened to the programme)
I wouldn't mind if the fediverse stays under the radar. It's growing more or less organically and people are here because they want to be, rather than arriving expecting the Next Big Thing. So far, it's been a pretty laid back place and everyone is friendly - I imagine a big news outlet suddenly promoting the place will change that.
On the plus side, I guess there's no incentive for media outlets to promote a system that doesn't splash money around in advertising drives.
