I'm in favour of this. Not because I have any particular faith in the RCMP, but because I trust the OPS even less.
I take your point, except that it's the PPS, and not the OPS that have jurisdiction on the hill. According to the article, the RCMP apparently want them to be limited to checking bags for visitors.
It's a weird take, and a bit of a territory grab.
Fed cops guarding fed space. Probably at a discount too! (Mounties used to be the.lowest.paid police force in the country, and a very well-trained national force at that)
