Japan is not allowed to sell Patriot missiles to countries at war. The US cannot allow its Patriot missile stock to be depleted so the US will now be able to send some of their Patriot missiles to Ukraine.
We did a similar thing with South Korea last year. We're the middleman for supporting Ukraine.
