Share your shave of the day!
December 26, 2023
I decided I needed to use Bleu Man today and had time to throw in a third pass which added my enjoyment of this Bleu Teusday.
This Red Imp is very sharp but has one of my pre-September edges. In September I started to play with controlling edge micro-convexing while honing. I'm happy to say that I can feel the difference. I quite like the sharp feel of the Red Imp's edge, but I'm now more accustomed to the much softer sensation that comes from my current honing process. Fun stuff for me.
Happy Boxing Day! I like the theme of generosity behind this day.
Honing your honing process ++;
The red imp has such a fun branding, I'm going to end up buying one just for that π
Your bleu teusday reminded me that I forgot about Tabac Tuesday π€¦ββοΈ I guess that's a sign of a good vacationπ
Iβm going to end up buying one just for that π
I admit that's why I bought mine. Glad you're enjoying your vacation!
Prep: Splash of Cool Water
Razor: Timeless - Stainless Steel .68 Open Comb
Blade: Gillette - Nacet (Marathon) (540)
Lather: Wholly Kaw Vegan - 1776
Brush: Semogue - Owner's Club Boar (Shedder) (21 uses)
Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Full Measure of Man
A quick shave with the Slurry lather using the Wholly Kaw Vegan base today.
Using the phone's camera, instead of my fogged up mirror to shave.
(Timeless - Stainless Steel .68 - Open Comb ::: Gillette - Nacet - M βΉ540 usesβΊ)
A little tuggy on first pass, since I skipped a day of shaving. But fine after that.
Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 2 out of 5 (Okay)
(Wholly Kaw Vegan - 1776)
Them: "a summer blend perfect for saluting the Fourth of July. It is a refreshing green aroma with notes of osmanthus, benzoin, labdanum, grapefruit, artemisia, tarragon, patchouli, musk, tonka bean, cedarwood."
Me: I did a blind shave with it first, not knowing the notes. I just know that i really enjoyed it.
Scent Strength: 4/10, present during shaving.
Lather... Likely my final verification that the WK Vegan base is very compatible with the slurry lather method.
Nice, sloppy slick slurry for passes 1 & 2. 3rd is still highly wet, but was still super slick.
Hydration: Perfect (for me)
Bowl: No Bowl
(Semogue - Owner's Club Boar - Shedder βΉ21 usesβΊ)
The SOC is a great brush, espeically for the slurry lather method. This one has had a year of uses by someone else, but is not nearly as split as mine that has many less uses, but has been treated with the hair dryer.
During the Shave Feel:
Cheeks: Just a little tugging
Neck: Just a little tugging
After the Shave Closeness:
Cheeks: Close Shave
Neck: Several hairs are showing some tip length (still a pretty good shave)
Ending of Blades Ledger - entry form and the data spreadsheet
A little tuggy on first pass, since I skipped a day of shaving.
Yeah, THAT is why the marathon blade felt tuggy π
Always impressive to see that blade come back for one more shave!

Leviathan++;
Nice choice of scent progression there!
It was an enjoyable combo, for sure. I got a compliment from my brother when we hugged about 5 hours after the shave. I can only guess it's the GLS still lingering. That stuff is strong!
How did you like the Streamline? Still a win?
Still a win. Noticeably milder than the Micromatic's in use the past few days, which I appreciate. I did enjoy the MMOC's and Clog-Pruf, but as a certified Mild Boiβ’οΈ, Streamline is it.

Greatshave. Late post but it was a great day.
Boxing Day
I'm starting to be impressed with the vintage Schick blade. Closing in on a week's worth of shaves, it shows no signs of tugging. Pretty damn good for 70-80 years old hunk of steel. Of course, I'm waiting for the blade to give me an excuse to use the repeater mechanism, so I'm of two minds.
