A Chinese fighter jet conducted an “unnecessarily aggressive maneuver” during an intercept of a US spy plane in international airspace over the South China Sea last week, the US military said in a statement Tuesday.
I never said the US was protecting Vietnam, way to put words in my mouth. I'll explicitly spell out what I said a second time: When two historically antagonistic countries, such as the US and Vietnam, both independently hold the same opinion that China is being overly aggressive regarding its claims to the South China Sea, China is probably wrong.
You seem to think that I'm some jingoistic US MIC supporter. I am not.
The context for the discussion is US flying spy planes in South China sea. Vietnam has nothing to do with that last I checked. And I'll spell it out for you too, here's what relations between China and Vietnam actually look like:
I never said relations between Vietnam and China weren't friendly overall. I said that when pretty much every country near the South China Sea, including Vietnam, say that China does not have territorial claim over the South China Sea, China is probably overstepping and the aggressor in this specific situation.
The context for the discussion is US flying spy planes in South China sea. Vietnam has nothing to do with that last I checked.
You should probably check again, because Vietnam has claims on areas of the South China Sea that overlap China's claims.
You do realize that even extremely friendly/allied countries can have disputes right? You also realize that there's nuance to everything, and no country/government is perfect right? Criticism can be levied at a government without invalidating everything that government has done.
I don't need to check again, US has absolutely no business in South China sea. Whatever disputes Vietnam and China may have, are absolutely unrelated to US constantly escalating tensions there. I'll try and explain this to you again, US comes half way across the world to surround China with military bases, and to constantly fly military aircraft and sail military ships right by China. This is an act of aggression, and it's absolutely surreal that you continue trying to pretend that it's China that's the aggressor here.
Once again, there’s grey in the world and the countries we support can do bad things that we should call out, and it isn’t a flaw or a weakness to admit that.
And this still has no relevance to the discussion of what US is doing in South China sea. I have no idea why you keep bringing that up as some kind of a gotcha.
Once again, there’s grey in the world and the countries we support can do bad things that we should call out, and it isn’t a flaw or a weakness to admit that.
Yet, every single intervention that US has done since WW2 has made the world worse, destroyed countries, and led to countless millions of deaths. US needs to mind its own business and to stop trying to play world police.
Chinese complaints are legitimate, US complaints are the complaints of a bully.
The Chinese complaints of the US sending ships and planes into the South China Sea, because China claims they’re territorial waters?
The US shouldn’t be sailing around the South China Sea. China shouldn’t be making territorial claims on waters that aren’t theirs. I think the world would be a much better place if both China and the US stopped their aggression and bullshit. According to you it’s only the US that that postures in front of the poor, tiny defenseless China.
Maybe the governments of all the wealthy countries just trod on the backs of economically smaller countries that can’t afford to assert themselves as strongly.
The Chinese complaints of the US sending ships and planes into the South China Sea, because China claims they’re territorial waters?
What part of US has no business in South China sea are you struggling with precisely?
Whatever territorial disputes China might have with Vietnam are for China and Vietnam to resolve. Your shithole country has no business playing world police, please try and get that through your head.
