What's realistically the solution to this? Should the BC government just fully take it over rather than having it privately managed?
Transportation, especially to and from an island, is far too important to not manage properly. It seems like someone else needs to take over, and my opinion is that, yes, that should be the government.
It also should never be treated as a business. It should be a service. It shouldn’t be expected to make money, it should be expected to provide adequate transportation.
It used to be a crown corporation. It used to be controlled by the government.
I think it was 2011 that it became private. Anecdotally, in that same time frame is when we've seen the service plummeting.

Look at 2022 bill 7 in the bc legislature.
Then wonder what happened to it. Try to find out.
