From the technical director of the game. Very nice to see they're working on a Flatpak version - that'll save so much heartache.

interesting that they’re doing flatpak, i assume this means they’ll handle game purchases through an online account, like minecraft
which is slightly disappointing… i hope there will still be a way to launch the game offline

They said there will be an offline mode, but you will probably have to authenticate with the servers the first time you launch it. That's how Minecraft and Vintage Story does it.

I'm really interested to try it out but I'm not buying it before they have a linux version available. Given how much minecraft I play I'd probably spring for one of their higher tier editions but I got to have Linux support.
