Do I Need to Report IHSS Provider Income on a Medi-Cal Renewal Packet?
I’m hoping someone familiar with Medi-Cal eligibility can help clarify this.
I live with the person I provide IHSS care for, and I receive IHSS provider income each month. I’m currently filling out a Medi-Cal renewal packet for the recipient, and I’m confused about whether I’m supposed to list my IHSS income as part of the household income.
I’ve heard mixed things — some people say IHSS income is not counted for Medi-Cal if the provider lives with the recipient, while others say you still have to report it, even if it won’t be counted.
Does anyone know the correct procedure? • Should IHSS provider wages be listed on the renewal packet? • Or are they excluded entirely and shouldn’t be written down? • Has the rule changed recently?
Any insight from anyone who has gone through this or works in Medi-Cal/social services would be really appreciated.
The "household" of the Medi-Cal applicant is generally identical to their tax household situation. If it differs, a CDSS interview agent asks. Questions in the application identify what's basically in the household.
