In a world-first move, Australia will soon ban under-16s from social media – how will it work?

It won't for the simple fact that gets avoided every time something like this gets introduced: kids are smarter than politicians. Whatever attempt at control that they manage to come up with, kids will 100% figure out a workaround within weeks and share it with peers like wildfire.

If they gave a shit they would ban marketed algorithmic social media.

And also, if we want the Internet to remain actually free in terms of content allowment... Which it isn't anymore... We could just make it 18 or 21 plus. People under that age could be firewalled Via phone plan.

But we know this isn't even about kids. It's about surveillance.
