Honestly, the fact that they even have a remove button easily accessible like this is miles above everyone else.
I'd still prefer opt-in, but this is better than nothing.
It shouldn't be part of the core browser at all. That trash still takes up space in the installation (however small), and could be reenabled without my consent in a future update. At a bare minimum, it should have been a plugin.
If you click this, then go into about:config and search on .ml, you'll still see a host of other toggled on features that you still need to disable.
for now
Make it an extension and its golden
I like the firefox AI translation because it doesn't send the text to fucking google. It translates it on my machine, and its shitty but good enough most of the time.
And when it fails, it fails spectacularily!
The mistranslations can be (and usually are) absolutely hilarious. Saying a part of me will be disappointed once they inevitably fix it is an understatement.
i don't know if it still does it but it would, without fail, translate the expression "sagan om " (the story of ) to "the lord of ". no cookie for guessing why.

vivaldi is already shiddy, they have a lot of google integrations that are hard to get rid off
Vivaldi was enshittified day 1.
someone is paying them to add it probably
Right now, if you have an enterprise sponsor, you're going to be pushed to find a way to add something that qualifies as AI. So basically, yeah, probably.
