New toy just dropped - Wurkkos TS22
Not many thoughts about it yet since I just got it - might post some comparison beamshots later.
I tried to figure out the absolute best EDC/work light for myself, and this one came out on top after a lot of back and forth between several others. I wanted something with high output, a good form factor, and of course, something aesthetically pleasing. I’m a sucker for military green, so here we are. The magnetic tail cap and ability to tailstand were factors too. It also functions as a power bank, which I didn’t really need, but it’s a nice feature nonetheless.
So have you tried out the TS22 yet? Any impressions or experiences to report? I don't care much about beamshots or measurements. Subjective user experience is much more interesting, imho.
Well, it’s my first proper modern flashlight, so I don’t really have anything to compare it to. The neutral white color temperature is much more pleasant than on any of my other lights, and supposedly the color rendering is better too - though, as I said, I don’t have a reference point.
I was a bit disappointed, though, that they advertised it as having an XHP70.2 emitter but shipped it with an XHP70.3 instead. According to 1Lumen and Selfbuilt’s reviews, the 70.2 version is rated for around 5,000 lumens compared to the 3,000 lumens on mine, and it also has better runtime on high. The 70.3 does have a better throw, but I specifically wanted a flood beast - and what I got isn’t quite that. It’s still bright as hell and does the job just fine, but yeah, not what I ordered.
Other than that, the build quality is great - no complaints there. The deep-carry pocket clip seems better than on many others I looked at, though the light itself is a bit chunky for EDC. The UI is quite intuitive, though double-clicking for turbo and then double-clicking again for ECO is a bit odd. I often find myself going from turbo straight to ECO when I just meant to return to the previous mode. Some people complain about the auto-lock feature, but I don't mind it - it’s always locked when I pull it from my pocket, and double-click to turn on becomes muscle memory pretty quickly. It's quite the hand warmer as well.
Not sure what else to say about it - overall, it’s a solid light, just not exactly the one I thought I was getting.
