I cannot imagine Putin's frustration. After he pulled off probably the 21st century's greatest geopolitical coup by installing Trump to do his bidding and ensure the downfall of his main adversary, who previously seemed totally invincible to everyone on the world stage... Trump turned out to be too stupid to be a reliable cat's paw and he's basically just back to square 1 but with the whole world clowning on him now. He got, in the end, more or less nothing out of it.
It's like the Twilight Zone. It's like Dante's Inferno. And I honestly can't think of a better person for it to happen to. If the US manages to right itself from the current catastrophe and the people wake up and start taking an active role in their government going forward, and Putin gets eventually overthrown as the Russians get sick of his shit too...
- I wouldn't say putin's got nothing out of it. The festering wound that is American politics has been torn open, large parts of the American government system have been trashed, and masked and armed thugs are loose in American cities, with orders to harass and intimidate the inhabitants at will.
  He might be frustrated that the whole thing hasn't collapsed, but America is seriously weakened and not really pushing back against Russia anymore, giving putin much more scope for manouvre. I think he might see that as a win, even if it's not the instant knockout blow he might have hoped for.
  
  Yeah, absolutely that is all true. What I'm saying is that it hasn't really helped his goal much. The US's support for Ukraine was kind of limp wristed anyway, certainly they haven't had any vigorous tangible success as a result of any of that. They just get to feel good about accomplishing the goal, while their people keep dying and no new land gets taken.
  
  The would be terrorists are sitting in their dingy living rooms, watching the news and eating pop corn as America destroys itself.
