Now that I'm done mourning BioWare, these are the RPG developers I'm expecting to carry the torch for the next decade

"BioWare fans can never agree on which era of the studio was its peak—classic Baldur's Gate 2, the original Mass Effect, or (correctly) Dragon Age: Origins-"
I'm getting tired of the dismissive and smug nature of both gaming journalism and gamers in general. its quite exhausting.
I read that as playful, where the author is intentionally making themselves come off as an example of a fan who cannot agree, but I have been wrong before. I have not spent enough time reading gaming journalism or interacting with gamers outside of Lemmy or my own social circles to form an opinion on dismissiveness or smugness. I did not read those qualities from this article personally.
its entirely possible that it was made in jest and I missed it because I'm so used to it being otherwise.
you may be right.
I think it's an American thing. A lot of them do this quippy, snarky, sarcastic thing even in general conversation, which always comes off pretty rude to me.
That’s because it is rude and (should be) unacceptable in polite company.
The world tolerates too much.
i don't believe it to be based on location. as I've seen this sentiment with every nationality.
If I'm doing it only in jest and not to try to be smug or dismissive of other opinions, should I stop? Asking in earnest as an American who never wants to come off rude or mean, but might have picked this up from others as a way to try to inject humor.
