I thought this would need to be discussed more as more and more mods ban for reports.
I mod several communities and would really prefer people over-report stuff, instead of ignoring it.
Overall, I feel that this is just straight up power abuse tactic. It will harm the other communities overall on Lemmy, as people get used to not reporting anything.
Report abusers very much exist, though. Whether the report workload is workable even with some false reports heavily depends on the community. And it's not actually a problem anyway if both the mods and the reporters are acting in good faith. If the mods are acting in bad faith, there isn't really something that a policy like that would change anyway IMO.
