  • If the simulation is accurate, you'll earn a lot of points by being extremely rude to the patrons.

    • Funnily enough even though the US is known for high quality service, I had a situation where a waiter (in NYC) complained about a 10% tip for some breakfast and coffee. The coffee took a while to deliver and we had to remind him about it.

Had another situation where the waiter got aggressive because they thought the tip was too low.

Had lots of great service experiences too, but bitching about tips is unacceptable.

      • Well, I've lived in France and I can tell you, Parisians are the rudest people east of New York. Especially if you speak French - which I do quite well.

Whenever I have to go back to Paris, I always make a point of speaking English, because then the waiters make a modicum of effort to behave nicer: they know Americans tip separately so it's a double-tip for the French waiters, because gratuity is included in the price in France, and most Americans don't know that.

But seeing the reputation Americans have abroad nowadays, perhaps I'll rethink that one next time I have to travel to Paris again. It's been a while since the last time.
