The problem is not that I am not where they are. The problem is that I know that I could be doing much more but I keep slacking off and don't do what I should be doing. Then, regret kicks in, making me sad.
Make sure you're defining "should" correctly. Relying on external opinion to set what you "should be doing" will lead to frustration, sadness and regret. Instead, let "should" be what you can actually do, given your current state of mind. Decide what you should be doing based on that. Challenge yourself to do a little more than that when you can, and accept thay some days you'll do less.

this makes me frustrated. I am behind compared to my peers, and saying otherwise in colorful text won't make me struggle with my disabilities any less, nor will it magically cause me to stop having to worry about making enough money to survive
