Remember when Sieg Heiling Space Karen said that having empathy is a sign of weakness or something to that effect?
He was very wrong.
We need more much more empathy in the world.
In my experience in the military, people who are different can be singled out for chronic abuse, and the abuse can take the form of an organized mobbing campaign. Over time, it takes it's toll, and people can snap, with the most common result being suicide.
A lack of empathy is literally a prerequisite to evil
